South of Southport Bivi July 7th after Karl's talk

Post by JohnClimber »

If anyone is heading to Southport to listen to Karl's talk in Southport on Friday 7th July

https://www.ents24.com/southport-events ... th/6767790

I'll be leading a few south to a bivi in between Southport and Crosby somewhere, depending on numbers who fancy it.

It will be an arrive late leave, bivi down, up early for the ride home for breakfast and the weekend ahead.

Let me know by message if you want to join in so I can reccie a suitable spot.

Bring lights :-bd

'South of Southport' ... sounds like a book title or maybe a film.
May the bridges you burn light your way

Is there a write up of his winter Scandie ride anywhere?
Didn't see it on his web page.
I'm planning something similar. Cheers.

Yes... You're right. My bad... You must be talking of the ride he rode from his doorstep straight into the depths of ice and snow... The one for water relief - pretty certain he did the writeup for that on his site

Are , by any miracle, any of them accessible on a road bike ?
I guess I can ride on gravel tyres for 25 road miles there but it's quite sub optimal

Where the bivi spot is, it's sandy, but only a short push from the gravel road that runs to the south.
Just follow the fat bike tyres.

Summitoppler and I are riding our Fat Bikes as we'll ride back to the start of our loop down the beach and through the sand dunes the morning afterwards.

Where and when are people meeting before hand for food?

Pete and I are planning on riding over from the winter hill area.

Hi Bill,
I'm told that there are a few places to eat and drink near the venue.
We'll head over there in plenty of time and get a pie and a pint... Or whatevers on offer.

Go and listen to Karl's ramblings...

Then head south for a bivi.

Jeff, Sam and myself will be on fat bikes as we will ride south on the beach and through the dunes on the way back to NE Liverpool on Saturday morning.

If the weather is as good as the forecast says it will be a tent free bivi out on the tops of the sand dunes overnight.

If windy or poor weather then it's tents of bivi in the tress
