Carbon frame Push fit extraction

Post by Lazarus »

God bless the absence of standards but finally having to do a PF BB 4,000 road miles with possibly 500 cX miles of use [ and more by previous owner]

So , as the frame is carbon [ salsa warbird so well made] do I
1. Hammer and drift - dont have anything proper to do this but can improvise
2.use the proper bearing tool I have BUT a cup has to go on the outside against the carbon frame to then push it out against this/into this. I am fine doing this on metal but unsure as to whether this is risky on carbon[ and would rather not hear a massive creak/crack to confirm my fears.

Advice /suggestions/reassurance appreciated as I really dont want to damage the frame- BB can be destroyed in the process as I dont care about that

unrelated but are DUB BB rubbish or did I just get unlucky ?
About a 1000 miles [ granted almost all winter slop] and non drive is totally seized.

As I was on the Salsa site anyway, I had a quick squint at the war road frame 'manual' which had BA reference to removing BB, headset, torque settings or anything else useful...
