Regarding fighting it, one of our friends is a professional ecologist based near Bristol, who does these kind of wildlife/fauna survey type things for pre plaining/development/objections work etc. Let me know if you'd like her details for any potential advice etc.

Gutted and sorry to hear this.

Do you know much about the plans yet - is it submitted to planning with drawings etc.? I'm friends with a fair few people who work on pre-planning things for various developments - mostly residential and commercial..but in amongst them include ecologists and geologists (including my wife who specialises in contaminated land!). Would be easier to object or bring up things that will make the plans difficult / expensive / slow it right down once there's some plans to look at and hence how/where to object.

I was about to say something similar alogn those lines as that's the default easy way to stop any kind of development in it's tracks. However, I expect a rally course, if using broadly using existing tracks, and the amount of actual time cars will be tearing along them, the impact from an EIA / report writing viewpoint will probably show it to be minimal, there will be little disturbance really compared to a trunk road development, and no habitat will be destroyed. Noise might be something that can be used...

So, my personal view is that I am as much opposed to this as everyone else. The professional situation is much more complicated, but the extension to the Carno Windfarm is / will cause many unintended consequences in the pursuit of clean energy.

FWIW, I have not recommended Ceulan as being suitable for various reasons, including noise, and did suggest other sites elsewhere. While we manage the forest, my client takes advice from elsewhere on non-forestry matters, and the opinions of others involved don’t align with mine. However, I believe the rally school wish to stay in the same locality, which does make it more limited to find a solution.

When Carno 3 planning consent was being sought, there were proposals to build a new circuit within the windfarm site. What became of this proposal, I don’t know, but it seemed to me to make a lot of sense, albeit limit their activities during the construction phase.

The rally school have now relocated to Scotland. Ceulan will remain Bear Bones Towers.
