A boner in The Times

Post by Dave Barter »

I doubt many here read The Times. It’s my guilty pleasure and today I found a big spread featuring one of this Parish. I’ve not got time to post it up here so get into WH Smith’s and sneak a guilty read.

Impressive!

Once had a letter published in The Times. Can't remember what I was ranting about though.

Just bought a copy, costs £3! At least I'll be able to stuff the other pages in my riding shoes to dry them out.

It says Karl's 39, that may have been true yesterday but not today

Happy Birthday to Karl :-bd Even at 40 he's still at the younger end of the demographic on here

Nice one Karl, and happy birthday!

Link, though it's behind a paywall, and damned if I'm giving Murdoch any money: https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/ice- ... -ch5snlgj2 You seem to get one free article, though I searched for "bikepacking" and clicked on another article, so don't make that mistake.

I know - earlier today someone guessed my age as 60 and then said they thought they were being kind :???:

Thanks folk. I was going to print my own obituary to get in the paper but had a Instagram message asking if I'd prefer to have an article about the Iditarod instead. Apologies for the fake news, I am today 40 not 39 as stated. I'll get them to print a correction for all those jealous old people.

Good luck Karl. I watched that documentary Safety to Nome about the Iditarod. It looked amazing.

Happy birthday Karl, great to see your article there.

You have to complete the 350 to be considered for entry to the 1000.

To enter the 350 you have to have done at least two of the qualifying races (most are in the States/Canada) or something that demonstrates your ability to survive in arctic conditions.

If you started now it would probably be three, probably four, years minimum before you got into the 1000.
