New seat pack recommendations?

Hi all.

I fancy a new seat pack. Waterproof. 12l-ish. Something a bit narrow/ pointy perhaps as I don't have masses of clearance between saddle and rear wheel.

What say ye?

Thanks

Personally I'd go with a harness and bag setup that way you can choose the size of bag to suit the load you are carrying. I've the Wildcat Tiger along with the two sizes of tapered bags (5L & 10L?) that they offer. Revelate also do a compatible dry bag (8L or 14L) as do Alpkit (10L I think), not sure if the straps on the Tiger will stretch to the Revelate bag as I don't have that.

Advantages:
  • As above you can use different bags to suit different loads.
  • You can pack/unpack away from the bike, i.e. in a bothy or tent, then quickly fix it in the harness.
  • If the bag gets damaged you just replace that rather than the whole lot.
I'm sure someone will be along with the disadvantages and their preference for an all-in-one setup.

Acepac or Wildact

I've moved to Acepac to work better with my Thud Buster seat posts.

They are robust, waterproof and bombproof
Wildcat for light weight travel on my gravel bike or commuter when needed

Out of stock Stu?

Also, it appears rather stocky or bulbous up front, I'm just concerned id lack the clearance to wedge it between saddle and tyre. Then again, doesn't look worse than mycurrent setup as per below

For reference, my bikepack PL seat pack

What's a bikepack pl seatpack please??

Get a Revelate Spinelock and be done. T'will be the last seatpack you'll ever buy and you'll be choosing saddle that have strong enough rails to have it grip (I did and cancelled my 91g Berk saddle which I still have and use). If you wish dofferent sizes then get a spare smaller/larger bag.

Revelate Spinelock (or did I say that already). I believe you're in US aren't you Ootini. Which makes it local (almost) produce.

Don't know why it's showing that Dave. I'll get ir changed, ta.

Quite slim up front but more pointy than rounded like your pic of the PL.

Hey Shaf. No I'm in the UK. Sunny / rainy Wales to be precise. The bikepack.pl seatpack us the one shown in the picture above. It's a decent little bit of kit, but I'm planning to hand it down to my lad for his bike / treat myself to something posh. 😉

Dave... well, if you're gonna get an Acepack for the saddle its compulsory to get their matching tob tube bag. I don't think I've come across one that's so well made for the money. I'm sure Stu will be able to order you one in with his next Acepac delivery.

Congrats on your new seatpack btw :-bd
