Slightly more than that, but yes... imagine what the fit version of me could have done!

Unrelated, took a pretty significant rock strike early on. Started to get quite uncomfortable by about mid ride, today I can't even walk. Not sure what's happened there, wondering if I've bruised my actual shin bone rather than the normal fleshy bits.

Great event. Ta very much to the organisers. The route was tough, but enjoyable, and took me to places I've never seen before. Met some nice people too :)

The rocky double tracks on the Syfydrin were fun. And the cloud inversion above Rhayader was very cool. It felt a shame to miss out the climachx trail though.

I was happy with my fitness and mental state. However,
my poor preparation meant I got two punctures (one through not setting up tubeless properly before the event, and one because I switched to tubes after 15km and ran through thorns at 180km). A mix of running with my bike, and riding on a full flat tyre half packed with grass, meant I missed my target of sub 24hour. 22 mins off. Quite an eventful end.

I promise I'll be back next year to try again, but without the schoolboy errors of poor bike prep.

Ta, Adam

If you want to gain your professorship just sign up for the Richard_G course: in no time at all your bike won't be ready, possibly not even built, the night before the event you signed up for months ago.

High (low?) light of the 300 route was pushing up that track on last year's 200 & 300 routes. Made the Coffin Road on the HT550 look pleasant! Once you'd got past the 45deg mud you were met with wet slippery shale

...and worse, it's not like the event is a surprise. lol

I was actually lucky that my tyres were still OK from an event a couple of months back. Usually I leave it so long that the sealant hardens. Related, always seems to be hedge cutting season when the BB200 is on... basically means you're screwed if you need to swap to tubes for any reason.

I recall riding that last year and thinking 'ooh this is fun' looking at it (in the face) as I staggered up it this year, I did wonder how I managed to ride it - but it was bone dry....

When did you finish Bob, and how did Cath do?

See earlier post - about 1650.

Given my best time on the YD300 is/was 29hrs and that was on trails I knew so didn't have to check the GPS, midsummer, etc., so I was unlikely to get a super fast time.

Oops missed that - well done to you both. I spied a few sheds at the track side and nearly gave up at one, but I was determined to press onto a bit of woodland I'd scoped out on the maps. I got completely confused as to where I was from about K205 - 220 and hadn't realised I'd blazed past it. By the time I realised where I was, I was not far from Glyndyrs cafe so figured I'd sleep there. Then I figured I should just keep going. What was worse was that the Garmin was showing 10k on the trip computer at the start so I did the whole route thinking I was 10k ahead of what I actually was...

After I saw you I didn't see anyone until Peter, the guy who really was last back, passed me as I was setting up my bivy. I caught him up again in Llanidloes and again in Hafren. Probably as close to a true ITT as you could have on a group start.

Nice to meet you Bob. I'm also the slowest to reply on the forum! Great 300 as I only remember the good bits.
It was a real Super Hard Individual Timetrial
