I've loads and I mean loads of very old OS maps 95% are very out of date.
I have a garmin Oregan with OS maps for the UK loaded on them that are about 15 years old.
And I make new routes with RidewithGPS which is free.

I know I'm a tight Yorkshire man but I feel now is the time to have a system that I can print out my routes from up to date maps.
Is the annual £28.99 OS Premuim the way to go.
What about Anquet Maps?
What else is for there for UK OS style mapping that I can print (at work*) and take.

John, Just pay your money! Get OS and stop messing around.

Remember that in the more remote parts, not much really changes and maps can largely stay unchanged for years.

If you are plotting your routes on RWGPS why not just use the OS maps on Bing maps while planning? The bits that we're interested in like bridleways etc are probably unchanged from your old maps to the current editions.

Go check out Dave aka Northwind's thread - pretty much researching what you are looking for. I fell out with Anquet as 18months after spending £200 on mapping, they pulled the plug on the download platform and offered a paltry discount on the subscription. Worse, they then stopped supporting the software you needed to run the program on a computer so my £200 of maps became worthless.
OS sub for me. Not perfect but pretty good most of the time.

Bing OS maps a re a few years out of date but good enough for map viewing

So are mine had a few road issues where roads and estates exist that did not when my maps were done but never had an issue off road

memory mapo is cheaper than OS and presumably uses OS maps - it would depend on how often you feel the need to update them -

I forgot about memery map, I had it on an old laptop with all the maps again around 15 years old now and the laptop dead.
It was OK back then

As stated above, use OS maps on Bing maps.

Just checked and it seems that way

You can get Bing OS on mobile using the "Desktop site" option (in Chrome at least), but it's very slow to render.

I've used the premium version since February and am happy with it. Can't really compare to anything else though. I really like exploring with 25K mapping, at home and while I'm out so it's worth it for me. I've made a few routes with it and not had any real issues. I had a little dabble with Basecamp and RWGPS but prefer OS.

Happy to confirm the code does work on the Premium sub (at the moment). £23.19 for 12 months seems a bit of a bargain IMO.

OS App is now fit for purpose after years of testing on us punters. I wouldn’t be without it now.

I use OS on desktop, iPad, iPhone and android phone. I use desktop or iPad to create a route - I love the snap to path feature. The routes I create go to cloud, and are instantly available on Android and IPhone. The Android phone is dumb, has no SIM, is weather proof and battery lasts ages, I use it in place of a dedicated GPS device. The iPhone lives in my pocket, is a backup and if I need to connect the Android to outside world I tether to iPhone.

I always used to have a paper map in my jacket as well, but this is happening less and less. Nice to have for displaying large areas on multi day trips where planning on the hoof is involved.

I’ve got a set of Memorymap CDs and licence from 20 years ago, not used for years, if anyone is interested.
