I'll see how the WRT goes first... or mad March in the lakes.

i am planning on touring round on the road again. was good last year.

I'll probably be in for the 300.

Did the 200 mile road ride last year at a fairly steady pace and had a great 2 days of riding.

I hope to do the 300. Challenge is to get past Ribblehead for a bivvy.... there are better spots

I think I'll do it again this year but not fussed about a repeat of last years brief kip as I was too early for the cafe at fiezor

I'm in again. The last 2 years have been nonstop, both 300 and 200. I like the idea of a more sedate pace and a bivvy, but we'll see

There is a good 'un at Ribblehead, maybe 300m off-route

(and it's not the pub!)

I like to think I'd get strong enough by then. I've had a DNS and a DNF

Back in for another go of the 300 after a 2020 failed attempt and missing last years, hopefully get round this year

Wet indeed. Then dry but bloomin' windy, then cold (5°c on Cam High Road ), then wet again all though the night.

It's a tough ride but such a shame the turnout is so low. 46 signed up but only 17 turned out on the day

Sterling effort to finish in under 24 hrs John - especially in the headwind. I bivied at the foot of Cam High rd - bit chilly til it clouded over. Nice to chat to you Lee - hope the rest went well.

I think the world of bikepacking events has reached at saturation point. There's a pretty small pool of riders from which to draw entrants from and for those events that are seen to be challenges rather than social, that pool is even smaller. Add the cost of living, a poor forecast and the lethargy brought on by the previous 2 years and it's perhaps not too surprising?

I did wonder if people are actually put off due to Stuart's emphasis on it not being a race as they want to do a race, even though ITT's aren't races... Plus it's not on Dot watchers, bikepacking.com etc. etc. so there is no 'kudos'....

Whereas the Dales divide, thanks to some marketing, has become a mainstay of the ITT calendar and so gets over subscribed.

Not sure if it’s that Stu. For some reason the YD300 has always had a high dropout rate. The first year(2014 or 2015) 60 entered and only 18 turned up.

Perhaps it’s the ease of online entry and low cost- enter and if you don’t feel like it then it’s only £20 lost

Also maybe the thought that it's f'ing hard, so while it seemed like a good idea to enter a few weeks ago...
I chickened out of entering for the second year on the trot. Maybe next year.

The YD200/300 is an odd one I think - the entry cost is really low (£15-20) so people are happy to enter and not turn up as they haven't lost much. The fuel to get there easily costs more than the entry fee. The start venue is odd also (it's Stu's workshop) - so it feels very very low key - which means to some people that it doesn't matter if they don't turn up....

I feel for Stu R as he puts on a great route, and the Yorkshire Dales make fantastic riding, but unlike BearBones events he doesn't have quite the following......
Now if he clubbed together with BearBones or some shops or something and made "an event" out of it, then it could really grow....

The Dales Divide is quite different - not sure why that is so popular - maybe it bridges the gap between "easy" (100-400km) and "hard" (1000km) - plus the timing is slightly better for many.

Officially 32:39 I think, but I arrived late so went for the briefing at 8am then went back to the van to change and pack/faff. Left Skipton at 8.40 . 4 hour kip stop. Strava has just under 24 hrs moving. 2 pubs and Austwick cafe account for some of the rest…….

Looks like I'm down that way next week for some ambling about - I may do a variation on a theme of the YD300 but with some short cuts and with a couple of nights out.
