Pleasant Valley Sunday.

Details for PVS have now left the building. If you entered and don't receive an email by end of play today, do the usual checking of spam, old email accounts etc and if nothing shows up, get in touch.

Oh, jolly good. It was looking like a very quiet day at work otherwise!

Some good GRs there as ever  . Unprecedently and unfortunately I think I'll be visiting more than zero of them  .

Leg already jiggling up and down with anticipation....

I was wondering what this was going to be about then I got it - Winter Event.
About time they got high speed rail between Scotland and Wales so I could do these things without havering to suffer for 12 hours in the car.... Look forward to the tales

6 hours Kirkcaldy - Haymarket - Wolverhampton - Caersws  . Admittedly not as cheap as my £40 4-hour Leighton Buzzard - Caersws journey.

Trying to plot a rough route round all the points on offer, just to see what's what. Having only ridden in Wales the once I appreciate that I can't just randomly cycle where I want, but I'm not sure exactly where I'm allowed either. I vaguely recall reading something on here that said I could ride in most of the forests, but not all of them, or something like that? There seems to be a derth of rights of way between some of the grid references, which appear to be up dead end valleys, with the only way out back the way you came in. Options for one big loop around them all take in far too much main A road for my liking; anyone got any tips...?

Yes. Don't try and include them all.

Bit difficult without giving away the GRs unfortunately  .

The usual tip is ignore those red dashed lines known as "bridleways" in England, and "non-existent tussock-ridden bogfests" in Wales  .

Go for the double black dashed lines - forest tracks are your friend. Not RoW but I don't think anyone from This Place has ever been ticked off, if you stick with usual Rules.

Happy to bat ideas around via PM's if of any help.

Perhaps pick just one and concentrate really hard on enjoying that for a couple of days

In that case, I may make a pilgrimage to another SPAR, then make it up from there... 🤣

There've certainly been worse plans than that :-bd

If anyone has plugged the GRs into a map and has a link they can please share that would be great. If I can get my bike ready in time I’m only planning a very gentle jaunt so it would save me a whole load of time!

Is there anything to ‘find’ at these checkpoints? Maybe a clip, a sign, a code, or maybe just a huge pile of fresh sausage-rolls, a hot bath and a massage?

Update, too late, I've paid.

Need to know asap if anyone is looking for a bed Friday night at Hafren bunkhouse, I had made an enquiry earlier today for two beds, but now only need the one for myself. Nice lady Sarah there will get even more confused tomorrow morning if I change my mind again, but if anyone says "aye" really quickly I'll go ahead and book the two...hope that makes sense. £32 incl. breakfast from what I can see.

Just in case anyone thinks that we've ignored Ben's post above.
I've been in touch with him and he's sorted now.
Really looking forward to this event as 90% of my route will be on trails that I've never ridden before.
So nice to get out of my comfort zone and not follow familiar trails again and again.

Yourself? (hmm, bit deep that for a wet Tuesday evening in Leighton Buzzard) (*)

(*) although some go out there to achieve the opposite...

Nirvana? (**)

(**) not the band...

Plus you can do as many or as few GR's as you like.
There are no rules and everyone who enters and rides out and back to Llanbrynmair that weekend is a winner :-bd

Made the mistake of looking at next weekends weather forecast; given that Reg is going I probably shouldn't have been surprised. 🙈

Just a bit of drizzle. Probably lemon flavoured too.

Still not recovered from COVID enough to consider doing anything hilly. Will sadly have to give this a miss.

I'm starting to get moderately concerned that I'm never going to be able to do much that's strenuous going forward. :???:

Just do a flat(er) route Richard. I know it'll involve quite a bit of lane work but better to be out than not.
