What colour should I paint my bike?
Interested in some hive input. I've a first series OO Fatty that I'd like to get resprayed. It's white with orange stickers. The paint has stood up really well given OnOne's reputation for shoddiness, but it's battered and rubbed and just needs sorting.
I'm thinking British racing green, love that. Or perhaps a dark yellow like Big Dummy Steve's bike.
Any thoughts?
Or should I just rebuild it with the new parts I'm sourcing and let the dings and scratches keep telling their stories?

If you're taking it out in snowy conditions then a bright red is very photogenic.

We don't get much snow down our way Colin but I really look forward to it when it happens and try to make the most of it. This was last winter and it lasted a whole two days before turning to sludge.
My daughter suggested red too. I dunno ... don't want to seem too flashy.

Brunswick green and cream cut in like a billiards cue. My old Thorn eXXp is done like that and looks great.

British racing green or a JPS style black & gold would be my choice if I were re-painting a frame at the moment.

Oh god, JPS colours ... so sweet. Takes me back a long way. But no. Not on my fat bike. It would seem a bit rude.

This has just reminded me - i was looking at 'rust' paint the other day. With a little imagination and inclination* you could produce the worlds first 'Fat Rat'.

Just matt black, brush painted. In fact do it with a bit of frozen cauliflower for the ultimate rat bike look

I have a fixie that I converted from an old Raleigh. Argos framebuilders resprayed the frame #2, blue metallic and it looks amazing! They have a colour chart here.....

Re: What colour should I paint my bike?
Has Matt got a black bike too then?
Sorry to bore you with this old tale again but it always makes me smile: mate in Stockport painted one of his totally matte-black including spokes, brakes, levers etc. Road it round town next moonless night while wearing a white boiler suit and wellies. Got himself in the papers as the Stopfordian Ghost or some such.
Frozen cauli?!

How about a Gulf inspired scheme?

That Gulf colour scheme is stunning and has me thinking.
It's definitely going to Argos Cycle. They redid a Condor Pista for me years ago. I had the bottle bosses removed and the rear brake mount filled in as I always rode it fixed. It was done in a similar blue to the Gulf but with white highlights. The paint looked a mile deep.
Not sure about the rust scheme or rat look though ... I'd be constantly wanting to clean it.
Im going to have a plan on here later.

Re: What colour should I paint my bike?
Controversial opinion maybe - no bike has ever looked very good in Gulf colours. The surface area and colour proportions that make it work on a car can't be created on an average bike frame, maybe a deep tubed aero bike, maybe. That Gulf colour scheme is stunning and has me thinking.
Matt black 100% yes, or gloss black, never fails. Otherwise (back to car themes) anything else that would look good on a hotrod. Cherry red, yellow, metalflake purple... it's a fat bike, go bold I'd be tempted to try a dark/deep orange metallic. That carbon Concours des Machines bike looked good.

Just posting up to say I feel your pain
Sometimes it's just easier when you can pick option 1 or 2. For what it's worth, I find bright colours for interesting things work really well, and to me it's more fun
I'm trying to pick a colour for a car (have a few months to finalise it) but it's pretty much the only bit of the spec I can't decide on

I had a remedy this colour. It looked lovely.
This or that deep metallic blue.
I may get the hunt resprayed at some point.

I was trying to remember which bike I'd seen those colours on - Trek Remedy, that was it. Does look nice but now I've gone off it and am leaning back to British Racing or a Brunswick green. Will have to look at the stickers I've bought and work out if they will work with that as a base, as I had originally thought a dark yellow as on the cards. Sigh, decisions decisions ....

Here’s a (poor) photo of my Thorn Tim.
Unfortunately, all my use of the bike predates my having a digital camera so I just dug it out of a corner of the shed to photo the detail.
