portsmouth to dartmoor electric tour...charging stops

Post by bluebus200 »

Hi All,

Firstly deepest apologies for the electric bike begging!! I am attempting a route from Portsmouth to Dartmoor in mid December (regardless of the weather). I am taking a Genesis Latitude that i converted into an electric monstrosity over lock down.....anyways im on the hunt for any friendly charging spots along my route. if you know a friendly pub/cafe/ bike shop along the way id appreciate hearing about them. happy to pay/donate to a charity/ do some gardening for a plug in if your that way inclined...thanks muchly

areas im likely passing through and will neeed to charge...

Salisbury
Bruton
wellington/ taunton
Moreton hampstead

Only used them for charging up my phone/battery banks while on extended tours, but I've always found charity shops very amenable to charging my stuff for a few hours while wander around the town in exchange for a small donation.

Did a long weekender a while ago with my OH on her ebike. It was great, cafe or pub stops every 30 miles or so who they were all fine with charging up for us. I expect most would be if you're a paying customer, maybe more than just a small coke.

As above, be a proper paying customer if you're at a cafe and just don't be afraid to ask. Keep a smile on your dial and the vast majority of people will bend over backwards to help you.
I'm just going outside ...

As TBD says, spend some cash - you’re gonna be there a while for any useful charge so don’t just take up space. I didn’t have any hassle that way when I had mine, but then I didn’t see buying food as a problem! Rule 1.

Curious as to why you are not using Sustrans Route 2?
Zazen - nothing happens next this is it.
