Dogs on Bikes

Is that "a thing"? πŸ€”

Regional correspondence suggests "yes", hereabouts

Rich and Shona at Keep Pedalling take their 'Olive' on the bikes a lot. I think she did the Badger Divide earlier this year.

Not uncommon to see a small dog in a basket (no, not like chicken in the basket; I know we're backward around here but...) or in a trailer around here in the Forest of Dean.

John Climber takes Archie out I believe now that he's getting on a bit (I'll leave you to interpret whether that means John or Archie... )
We go out into the hills to lose ourselves, not to get lost. You are only lost if you need to be somewhere else and if you really need to be somewhere else then you're probably in the wrong place to begin with.

Just so happened that I watched this very interesting film yesterday on YouTube which quite early on features a fellow rider called John and his dog. Nice seeing them in action and you soon realise that John is one fit rider. Check out his bike and how heavy it must be and then add the dog in the basket....πŸ‘πŸ’ͺπŸ’ͺ😁

If I ever get this house sorted I really want to get a Visla. Hopefully can come with me on shorter trips.

John and Mira!! Been following them on Instagram for ages and live what they do and where they go. They did a huge chunk of Continental Divide. He's done most if not all of the Baja route with Mirs as well. Seems Dog Packing is a thing!
If at first you don't succeed you're running about average!

The CWB this year looks like it will feature a few small furry friends. (No, not Reg, he's stuck at home.) My little Milly goes quite well in the shopping basket I got off Tesco last year though off road in the cold might prove a bit more challenging than nipping down the shops or park. We'll be right. Yes for dogpacking.
I'm just going outside ...

Don't forget about Josh Kato and his poodle Winston! He rides with Winston all the time and refers to him as his coach!

I think bikepacking.com had a series of articles recently about taking your dog

https://bikepacking.com/plan/dogpacking

If you search β€œdog” on the site there are lots of articles
