I started using Instagram a couple of years ago, really specifically for bikepacking related stuff (except for a small handful of work colleagues who are keen grammers and found me straight away, which has made me reluctant to share any actual ditch sleeping there...). Never had any problems with any unwanted followings, all had some bike related connections, apart from some commercial companies which I could do without.
This morning, after a few conversations at the weekend about the pitfalls of social media, I did what I had been mulling over anyway, and made my account private.
Just now when I had a look, I have not one, but three, follow requests, all from attractive, blonde, scantily clad young ladies I don't know. WTF???

I guessed there would be a few of you doing that...
I thought they genuinely wanted to get to know me, feeling used now
