Yeah you are but there’s rules, table service only, 6 people from different groups, one must be called Brian etc.
That's lucky, there are 5 of us and one Is called Brian

Just trying to work out resupply options... are we to assume that pubs are essentially closed? I don't really know how it's been working in deepest darkest Wales. Where I am it's all bookings and table service only.

Edit - Funny, the East (England) section of my route has loads of options for pubs / shops / garages etc. The West section... basically nothing for the first 60km and last 65km.

I guess I'll have to test my water filter... and hope there's not too much carrying of my heavy ass bike!

Related, anywhere around Llanidloes that might be a good place to stop? I'm almost certain to end up there on the second night and it would be nice to be able to have some food and then not go far to setup camp.

I'd start heading towards Hafren and get into the forest proper shortly after Old Hall or there abouts.

Cheers. That's roughly on the route anyway, though I may go out, sleep and come back for breakfast.

Edit - Hmm.... not really seeing a lot of flat anything around there.

I might have overthought my route a bit (square hunting!).

Kinda nervous given how long it's been for me so I've built in a ton of escape routes.

I can recommend the Hafren toilet block if you get caught in a storm  . All mod cons!

I'll be arriving at Llanidloes just before the Spar closes (at best), so that would be quite a bit further than I'd originally hoped to travel. Hell, if I went that far I might as well just crack on and head back to the car!

That said, it's mostly downhill so I could at least do it quickly and stop on the flat bit across from it. Would take some persuading to get me to go back to Llanidloes so I could get on my original route again though!

Fair points  . And it is a bit of a collector's piece to be honest, not everyone's cup of tea.

Still, you lot out there this weekend - with your shelters, dehydrated food, water filters etc - are in a better position than most as this shambolic shower of a government finally implodes impressively along with their unelected 'advisors'. Now where's my Ti-foil hat? (that's the bikepacker's version of a tin-foil hat of course)
