Decanting Smidge into smaller bottle

Has anyone tried to decant the bigger 75ml smidge bottle into a smaller bottle? I know it's available in a smaller pocket size but it's a lot more expensive per ml and seems more wasteful

The 75ml bottle isn't massively heavy or bulky but I'd prefer to put it into a little pump spray bottle. My trips are usually only short so would only need 2-3 days usage

I can see it would take a while using the pump, so cutting the can would likely be a better option.

I'd just contact Smidge and suggest they provide it in another container. Might not work for this year but they might consider it for the future. The current pocket pack was produced due to customer demand so they do seem open to suggestion.

Interested to hear how you get on with this as I was wondering about it the other day!

Yeah, I've done it. Just pumped it out. Only takes a minute or two to get enough for a few days. I decanted it into a little tub like this. Actually find it's easier to apply than the spray - you can dip your finger in to put it on your face rather than spraying it everywhere and trying to rub it in.

I picked up a smaller spray of smidge - it’s a funny shaped thing, like a thick credit card shape. Nice and easy to pack though.

Certainly novel and easy to carry, but £292 per litre, ouch

I prised the top of a nearly empty bottle to make into a meths stove. Poured the remains into a small placcy fuel bottle.
Mind you, given the somewhat chilly weather we ain't going to need it for a while yet :-bd

Thanks all. If I find a little pot to pop the smidge in I might just squirt a load out and pop it in my bag as mentioned above

The smaller credit card size bottle is about 2/3 of the price for about 1/4 of the volume, just seems wasteful

As mentioned, they do make a small “rucksack” friendly flat bottle.

I've decanted into an old eye drop bottle so I've always got a little in my tool kit. Seems to work fine.

The pump spray used to have a screw top but all the ones I've bought after it first came out are sealed.

It's not decanting. You're not separating a liquid and solid.

The word you are looking for is move.

This is up there with people confusing literally, and figuratively.

Not really.

Common usage has moved the word away from such a strict definition:

I use an alternative method: I spray the required anount onto "wet-wipe" type material (ok, its a bunch of old wet wipes that have benn washed and dryed), then seal them in a zip lock bag.

To use, just wipe away. If the wet-wipe becomes too grim, bin it and use another. Works a treat.
