Continuing to creep in the right direction and had a few nice comments.

I seem comfy at the moment so not feeling as motivated to make life harder, but tempted to go for a big push for a couple of weeks before my holidays.

Going to be a bit of a refeed day today anyway as I have a hilly summer century on the cards for tomorrow.....

I’ve not weighed myself for a couple of weeks so was expecting much worse! Starting to get back on the bike so hopefully that’ll get me back in the groove.

107mile road ride with 6900ft elevation, a short walk, and a solstice night swim racked me up around 7500cals yesterday if strava is to be believed, so just need to not over compensate on the food today!

For what it's worth, when doing my (pretty damn accurate over time) calculation of calories / intake, I've never allowed myself more than half of Strava's calorie calc. If I'm actively trying to lose weight I tend to only take a third of the original number.

Unless you happen to have a power meter, I've found their calculations to be miles off.

I have noticed the calorie numbers are significantly different depending on whether or not I'm using a HR monitor. They are always much higher if I am, but don't know if that's because the HR monitor is wildly inaccurate or because strava makes some inaccurate assumptions about me. Then again Strava used to constantly compare my segment times against the women's leaderboard not the men's for some unknown reason so I don't really look at Strava for accuracy.

Got sick last week and I'm really struggling to get my body to put on any weight (deliberately going over my intake). Feel so completely drained. :|

Was supposed to be doing an FTP test today but I don't have the energy for it. Also supposed to be in the Lakes at the end of the week but not sure that's a good idea either.

Not good Richard

Yeh Strava, and all apps should be more accurate with HRM and correct weight, but I can't say I've noticed a significant difference between having one on or not. Always best to take the calories burnt with a pinch of salt, along with the calories claimed in packets. Only real way to tell the balance is whether you're gaining or losing weight.

Not a bad week at all food wise, a few swims and wanders and 3 hours of cycling since the century last Saturday, just no change. I've been fairly wiped out with a bit of hearty ache too since the century so probably not generally as active.

I did have a fair bit of wheaty stuff yesterday though, and no morning deposit. So I'm calling that evens in that I doubt I've put on fat with my intake, just water and waste

I've pretty much slipped into holiday mode and happy to maintain now as we're away for 3 weeks seeing family from next Friday. If I can come back around the same as I go away I'll be happy. We'll be camping, cycling and walking when away, but we'll also end up eating out with family and friends...

Out of interest totted up my activities since last Friday's weigh in and it's 15 hours between rides, walks and swims, so I've not been too lazy

Having issues with the last kilo or so of planned weight loss, probably not helped by not having lots of time for riding and my ankle not really being up to running yet

It seems that going off the rails and eating/drinking everything within sight for a month (whilst still riding my bike plenty) is not the way to lose weight - who knew???

I'm not so much fighting the fat at the minute as I am embracing and feeding it. Arse.

Well I'll not be weighing in now until 30th July now as I'm just on holiday and away seeing family, so I'm assuming a reboot on my return then!

I'll be getting some hiking, biking and swimming in and camping the bulk of the time, but also eating out with family a fair bit, so we'll see how much I can limit the damage!

Sorry there has been nothing for the past few weeks, a combination of being away and feeling rough has not helped, progress seems to be happening though, both on scale and off.

Still can't seem to recover from after the Jennride, starting to suspect the long COVID has reared it's ugly head again. Seems like I'm fine until I push myself particularly hard, and then the wheels fall off for a few weeks. Waking up utterly exhausted even after sleeping well, and just can't exercise without feeling like death.

I'd really hate to imagine what this would be like if I wasn't so fit.

Oh man, that's not great Richard :|

All I can say from personal experience is to let your body guide you, definitely not your head (or desire to do stuff).

I've not got long covid, but I have, I like to say history of, but being honest still have CFS/ME, just not as bad as it once was.

Only time, sleep, good diet, relaxation and limited/paced exercise (duration and intensity) work for me to recharge. If only I'd listen to my own advice...

I've gone into "taper" mode rather than back to full training and I'm going to see where that leads me.

I know if I stop fully I'll be months before I get back to it (doing nothing definitely makes things far worse).

I rarely weigh myself and always used to weigh around 77-78kg when I did, so imagine my surprise when I hopped on the scales the other day and saw 83kg

I had noticed last summer's shorts seemed to have shrunk in storage somewhat. That's what you get for going from commuting 10 miles a day by bike to working from home and commuting two feet from the bed for 15 months. I just like biscuits too much.

Ha, I can't buy biscuits. I don't have the self control to have them in the house.

Same for crisps.
