PX Goldrush - Yay or Nay

I really enjoyed my brief gravelwanker experience with a Camino. Sadly a medium was too small so it went off to someone who could make the best of it.

I'm a bit of a Ti hooer and so PX's Black Friday offer of a Ti Goldrush at just shy of £2k seems quite a good deal (in large).

To be used for a bit of everything but I prefer to be off road than on.

Anything anyone wants to chuck in the pot before I hammer my credit card?

FAir point. Existing Gryhon does the drop bar / fat(ter) tyre stuff. Thought about a Ti one of those but £2k for F&F so the Goldrush as a full build for a little shy of that seems good. £400 less than the equivalent Camino Ti too (out of stock).

They have gone up a bit, i bought mine as a frameset at £1400, but i love my Reilly Gradient, easily fits 700X45c tyres and i have had it set up with everything from 1x for locally to 2x with MTB gearing for Torino-Nice and never skipped a beat really.

I think it looks great - the geometry is very appealing to my eye. Love the lines/tubing on the rear triangle.

I've got a Titus Fireline which has been a lovely frame, don't know how much design DNA is shared with this though. Not much I suspect

Looks nice. However, equivalent build looks to be £3,700 so the Goldrush at £2k seems to be a ridiculous bargain.

If you buy one we can be bike-twins  as I've also got a Fireline. Lovely bike in itself. I keep wondering about better forks (running Revelations at about 120mm with QR, iirc). You?

TBH, it's rarely the bike that's the limiting factor nowadays ;-)

I vaguely know Guy Kesteven from trailbuilding and see he's done a video review (in the PX image gallery), seemed to like it. Looks like the CC is going to get battered then

 Very true.

I've had a Lauf on it for general bikepacking/XC duties. Swapped over to a Fox 34 140mm now as I'm in the middle of buying a new Travers frame that will become my main bike, so the Fireline will become a "winter hardtail" for banging about on. Couldn't bear to get rid in the end. I've run it with a 160mm Pike and 650B+ front tyre in the past too for racing at Ard Rock and some GNAR stuff in the Alps, it felt wonderful.

If I hadn't just bought the Travers I suspect I'd be ordering a Goldrush. Hope they don't drop the price any more...

Always a risk with PX I know. Flipside is sell out. Plus, even at this price (just shy of £2k) there is very little that gets close (as a fully built Ti gravelw8nker). Even the Camino Ti is several hundred more and out of stock since who knows when.

Had a little chat online with Guy. He was very positive. Confusingly he is very similar in size and dimensions to me (well, apart from bulk ;-)). He ran a medium and was happy, I ran a medium Camino and was most definitely not. The fit was OK but verging on small and the toe-lap (see other threads) was grim. Riding the same shoes on other bikes, even the Gryphon revealed it was something associated with the Camino, although my set-up was a little "cleats-back".

Although there is some blather that the GR is a rip-off of the Camino the dim's on PX differ quite a bit from Alpkit's. Which makes picking the PX in large a bit more of a gamble. A feck it, what's the worse that can happen

Oh for chuffs sake ~X( ~X( ~X( ~X( ~X(

Just thought I'd ask them to leave the hoses a little longer so if i (probably) change the bars it's an easy thing.

Following their links is like one of those mazes where you keep coming back to the same (wrong) place and it never actually seems to have contact details just FAQs and links to yet more, barely relevant, areas. Even livechat seems to have gone since last time I dealt with them. Just a touch frustrating.

Hey ho :|

I don't know whether to embarassed or infuriated :???:

Finally worked out how to contact them (it has literally been something I've puzzled over for a few days ).

Honestly, look on this page:

https://www.planetx.co.uk/contactus

Is it me or is the option to actually contact them not obvious at all?

Maybe it's my age or something, I dunno :???:

Hey ho

Nope, and I expect that's deliberate!

When you find it it's entirely suitable and quite well organised (though I'm still waiting for a reply, fair play only a couple of hours).

New stock in and my brother is eyeing one of these up. Did the Black Fridayb ones have the adjustable drop outs? Any problems there - slipping, creaking?

Think they all have the adjustable dropouts.

As it's not built or received yet I can't comment

Fair play to PX I easily sorted out some option changes once I'd worked out how to contact them. I also took the opportunity to tell them their "Help" button was, despite being a nice bright green, utterly invisible, to me :???:

Blimey PX stuck to the build day and DPD will be here today between 13:17 and 14:17 (weird time slots agogo :???: )

I think I might be mildly excited.
