Thanks for that, but as I have missed issues. 1, 2 and 3, I probably won't bother.

Isle of Wight on the cover, that's your mate Tim who takes too much stuff in the middle

Weird as with my work hat on, and knowing the geology of the Island, I can only think of a few short stretches of actual real gravel you can ride on, or am I missing something with the 'gravel' tag?

Your comments are comical. This place is like Singletrack World for old men.
The same self-righteous condemnation for anything outside their niche. Just with slippers.

You could just ignore it if you find it that offensive.

It's true about the slippers though. Very sensible footwear for some situations. Wore some on my April bivvy. In fact here's me perusing one or other or both of the zines referred to above.

If I was to get offended by anything it would be the fact that where they are riding in the main picture has no public right of way over it for cycling, it's not even a footpath, it is in the open access land but it is a SSSI and a SAC, it's also in a contentious area with regard to cycling, and whilst I'm sure people have been riding over it for decades I'm not sure promoting it is the best course of action? It's also only about 200m long and to the riders left about 20m away is a 200 foot tall chalk cliff with no edge protection. It does make a nice picture though, if not a particularity great ride.

That picture must have been taken during lock-down as normally on a sunny day like that there would be a line of people walking up to the Needles Old Battery and rocket testing site which would make riding even less appropriate. When I went up there with Landslide in August (who was riding his gravel bike) we rode on the road as the 70mph+ winds would have made that path somewhat dangerous.

I probably wont get to see the article as the magazine doesn't seem to be available in any shops here, I made numerous trips to all the newsagents in Newport last time but couldn't find it anywhere, don't know if that's just a local thing or if it's hard to find nationally?

I suspect you're taking things way too seriously.

Exactly - he's got a bar bag and the other two don't.

Bloody hell you'd have to be old to out "old" those on STW who must have an average age in the fifties.

One day you get threads like this.
Next day you get a navel gazing thread on how to be more inclusive.
Go figure

Sean’s comment sums the whole thing up though.
A picture like that can be damaging if folk act upon it.
Shame, I’d have loved to have gone to IoW to ride that if it were legal. There is so little of the coast you can actually ride.

I would just add at this juncture that 'GravelWanker' is actually a term of endearment. I've sent out hundreds of stickers to gravel bike owners who also possess a sense of humour bordering on irony.

Anyway, if anyone would like to buy a copy, I believe it's available at WH Smiths and on-line. This issue includes coverage of the AMR and bikes you can't afford ...... well, not on your pension.
