Alfine 11 shifter

Prompted by something seen in another post: what's wrong with the Alfine 11 shifter?

Nor mine, but something nags at someone and I'm wondering if I should be worrying :)

If it was my post, then functionally nothing at all. I just dont like it. But then I dont overly like any shimano shifters, even xtr.
I find the arms too long and the thumb trigger in the wrong place.

Most people I ride with think I'm wierd though so I wouldnt spend any time worring over it. (If it it was my post that is)

Thanks for that. I reckon it's over complicated and wish that they did a simple rotary like one for the 8 speed shifter, but Shimano kit doesn't seem to fail too often. I have considered cutting and filing a chunk off the thumb shifter but haven't got around to it, as yet.
