FS: Garmin eTrex Venture CX - £60

Post by Bearbonesnorm »

Thought I'd try this again before it goes 'worldwide' ;)

Colour screen, sd card slot, compass, etc, etc. Runs on a pair of AA batteries and comes with full 1:50 UK TOPO mapping and 1:25 National Parks TOPO mapping - please note TOPO is not OS.

It's in VGC and inc' a bike mount and even the box ;)

I was a little shocked to discover that the Venture CX is still available and not cheap but £60 to your door.

As far as I know it won't. The TOPO maps show most stuff but not in the same detail as OS.

Hi Stu, I'm tempted but not sure. How much detail do the topo maps show compared to OS. Do they show paths, bridleways etc. Could you easily plot legal off road routes on it? I have been trying to find specific images of the topo maps on this device but can't narrow the field down enough, thanks, Ray.

Ray, I think you can see the maps in a special viewer here:

We got our cheap OS maps from this fella, he has the latest TOPO as well, a few screenshots as well:

Ray, yes the TOPO maps still show roads, tracks, paths, etc. The maps aren't as detailed as OS but they're certainly workable, if you were following a loaded gpx track then it'll do exactly the same as other units. Do you want me to take some pics of the screen?
