Kids bikepacking luggage options

hi the little lad wants to try a bike pack trip with me, I can carry most of my gear but I'd need him to carry his sleeping bag and a few bits

I have bought a seat pack but its too big as his seat is too near his tyre, a small alpkit frame bag doesn't fit, i can fit a small seat wedge and a tt bag or two for bits but really I'm needing a bar bag I think

After a cheap option really how would a lomo 12l dry bag and a pair of voile straps work out or any other ideas
Thanks

Mick, what about a alpkit airloc tapered bag. 13ltr and rolls down as small as you want. would work with some of those newfangled straps

IME you’re much better off with a rack on a kiddies bike. You can strap a dry bag on top. It doesn’t look so different to a a seat pack so your boy won’t feel like he’s being treated differently.
Personally I’d stay clear of too much (any?) weight on a child’s handlebars due to the effects on control.
When I ride with my kids they get the bulky light stuff like sleeping bags. It makes them feel included and frees up my capacity for heavier stuff.

Tony I think the tapered are a funny shape so would be a bit odd

Lune I tried my hybrid rack and it didn't fit his bike a proper mtb rack may though I will have a look into it

Cheers

Mine carried their sleeping bags in a camelbak /rucksack
I never tried bike packing bags as clearances were tight.
You get seat post racks that attach there - probably overkill though

Yeah he might just have to carry the sleeping bag in a backpack tbh

Thats what I was sort leaning towards rich , but the lomo dry bag as its double ended which is possibly useful :-bd

Edit.. just realised the one you mentioned is different to the one I looked at , out of stock but it looks good 👍

When my lad comes with me he carries his sleeping bag in an exped dry bag, it’s one of the ones with three compression straps, I’ve cut the stops off the outer ones and use these to strap the bag directly to the bars, works a treat.

I've a rack hanging around that just clamps to seatpost, for bags to be strapped on top. Happy to see it used if you cover postage?

Cheers I'll have a look at his bike again when I'm back from work and see his seatpost saddle tyre clearances and see if something might fit , its awkward as he's small but his wheels are 27.5
