That's interesting. I don't have the photo but in the middle of nowhere on Clinton Estate land there is a homemade No Entry sign with Agricultural Access only. Its a fantastic bit of unmade lane that goes for miles up to a Euroforest plantation - keep out trapping and hunting - then on to open heath.
I will get a photo and send it to the council.

It is shown on OS as lane with green dots for public access with a qualifier that the exact nature of the access and restrictions should be checked with local Highways.
Does that mean that they can still disappear?

I've got a local lane that needs to be recorded - having looked into how to actually get it recorded it does seem to require a lot of time and evidence to get the justification etc to get the lane made "official". It does need doing though so maybe a retirement project....

I even bought the 1810 OS map of the area to see what paths etc are shown that we've since lost, but they didn't have bridleways and rights of way then, just paths and roads - this makes it a bit more tricky to work out what is now a lost right of way.

I might have a look at the rights of way that stop at a parish boundary - clearly an error in the original recordings but I'd like to talk to someone in the know to understand how likely an appeal would be to succeed.

At the very least these should be sorted out and provide a better network. It can be done - the bit of BW beneath the figures 289 here http://streetmap.co.uk/map.srf?X=395895 ... &A=Y&Z=115 used to be footpath only (it's part of the Pennine Way) until about five years ago so you could ride to the field gate but not get to the road at the other side of the field This BW http://streetmap.co.uk/map.srf?X=381247 ... &A=Y&Z=120 also used to be a footpath until recently.

My mistake - it's call the Monk's Road. (Now there's a clue )
