Voile straps + keepers

First up I’m sorry if this has been discussed before, I’ve just typed “voile” in to the forum search and my iPad nearly exploded with the results, I’m not going through all of them!

I’m finally going to see what all the fuss is about with these straps by ditching my bungee cords for them. I just need to work out the sizes I need and I’ve got some questions:

I’ve noticed they do the XL versions, these are tempting for use on my bars/bar bag, are they an overkill?

The strap keepers state they’re for use on the 3/4” straps, I take it these are the normal size straps? (can’t find the width of the straps noted on the few websites I’ve searched)If so, does anyone do keepers for the XL version?

Aaaannnnnnd finally, Alu or Nylon buckles?

I'm really not sure there's any need for keepers as the strap ends tend to fold back neatly when fastened.

Apologies for diverting, but these worth a quick look too? 10mm. Use them on my bar bags. I dislike over-engineered straps altho of course these might not match your requirement: https://www.alpinetrek.co.uk/sea-to-s ... th-hook/

Yeah I suppose I could just tuck the straps in, keepers do look like they keep everything neat, however, knowing me I’ll just lose them in the grass when I take the straps off to set up camp

Thanks for another option RIP

the S2S straps that Reg refers to are also available for much cheapness on Ali Express. I use some on my cargo bike and in the van

I got some Voile-alike straps from one of the German shops when I was buying some other kit. IIRC they were a bit cheaper but, more importantly, they had the colour/length I was after.

The Voile and similar straps have the useful (for me) characteristic of stretchiness. I use one around my front bags setup cinched tight to stop it all drooping and being buzzed by the front tyre on full fork compression hits.

Cut length off if you find them too long in general use. No idea about the keepers and what will fit. Nylon, personally, vague reasons / justification = probably less prone to sharp edges, scuffing, wear etc, probably a touch weaker.

My straps are 20" and 25" (IIRC) and 19mm wide.

Thanks.... yeah thinking the same re the nylon, though wonder if turns brittle over time, then I think about the Alu bending/snapping

Mleh, you'll probably lose it before that happens.
