I've missed following the dots on HT550 and the TD.

But we do have the Hope 1000, started this morning in Switzerland.

Emma Pooley should do well, she was like a mountain goat in her pro days and also a very handy dual/tri athlete IIRC

Yes, it's good to see Emma there; here's hoping she will do well.

Doesn’t she live in Switzerland? Seem to remember she lived over there. They’ll be her local trails maybe

Siver medalist at the Olympics and world champion. But more importantly, she beat a talented field at Further last year, at her very first bike packing race an a very tough course. First overall!
Now could she beat the sleep monster Sofiane Sehili?

Looks like a fast field.

The palmares of Jochen Böhringer currently in first place https://ultra-jo.com/about/

Sofiane looks to be carrying no sleeping kit unlike Jochen.....

Sofian is likely to sleep... Sometime in 2021.

They're not hanging around up front

Very different game bikepacking racing these days compared to a few years ago.

It's incredibly fast and looks like an interesting battle ahead at the front.

Have the front two riders gone the wrong way?

Looks like the frontrunners are all going to be back comfortably under 4 days!

Jochen close to the finish on his borrowed clunker, great going.

Emma Pooley is out, had problems with her Di2 gears that she couldn't fix, going to carry on, but has received outside assistance, so reported herself out of running.

I've read quite a bit about folk having electronic shifting woes in long distance events. Guess if its free kit, it gets used.

Great race, really strong rides in there too. Impressive.

Neil Beltchenko uses AXS - I think he said he gets fewer RSI style hand / wrist issues.

When I first heard of folks using electronic shifting in long distance events, I thought they must be crazy. Then I read that it's because it alleviates wrist and finger numbness. So makes sense, but it's something else to possibly go wrong!
