He's an ex BBC local news presenter (Newcastle IIRC, I do remember seeing him on Nationwide way back in the day) and from other videos of his lives out on Ardnamurchan

Don't like the all mesh inner.
Don't like the trend towards too much mesh on inners, makes no sense to me, especially in this country.
Hilleberg used to say that mesh was heavier than solid fabric, so unless that's changed it makes no sense on ultralightweight tents either.

Too cold in this climate, condensation on inside of flysheet more likely to drip through and wet sleeping bag etc.
Just looked at Hilleberg website, they now say "Mesh Inner Tent. While this greatly increases ventilation, the mesh inner tents weigh about the same as the corresponding standard inner tents, so there is not a significant weight savings" so looks like they've shaved some weight off their mesh inner tents.

At Extremtextil the lightest fabric was (for >10 years) and still is 7D Nylon at 22 g/m2. The lightest net/mesh was and still is 25 g/m2. I'm pretty sure this will be the same elsewhere.
It's not like you can take 7d Nylon, make holes in it and have a lighter, workable and practical fabric. You'd just get a mess that likes to disintegrate into hairy knots.
Mesh will have thicker yarn than 7d and must be weaved in a way that it holds its shape. You don't want them bloody midges to get inside and it being even more elastic than it already is (makes manufacturing more complicated).

We have a winner for fugliest bike 2024, in April. It firmly pinballed on every branch on the way down It also seems to be very expensive, even in a lower spec ($3799). It may well function very well, and is a bit of a fargo with less tyre clearance...but still...

Yeah... that's one ugly bicycle.
But then any long/high head tube looks stupid in my opinion.

The thing with Kona's is, I never rode one that was rubbish to ride. They actually all rode really, really well. They were innovative in many aspects of biking. The early hardtails. Then the Stinky and Stab, then Coilairs, then Process, the (unfortunately) brief moment of the HeiHei DL (carbon). The various generations of Honzo's just to name a few.
This doesn't seem innovative, but perhaps it's a revelation to ride.
