69er spare tube

Post by restlessshawn »

Have ordered a front wheel to keep the Inbred 69er but what spare tube do I carry, a 26 and hope it will stretch or a 29 and stuff it in the 26 if I have to. Don't want to carry both!

I've done both and it's worked both ways round (though isn't ideal for either).

The stretched 26" felt less 'wrong' but I can't quite say why???

When I had my 69er I used to carry a cx tube ... worked okay even with 2.4 tyres.
May the bridges you burn light your way

Just don't hit bumps hard when you've got the tube stretched. I was forever pinching tubes on my wide 26x2.4 tyres when using 26x.2.0 tubes....I was going hell for leather and not really thought about it though  Fine for get you home though.

If you inflate the 26" tube a bit first you'll find it stretches a bit anyway which will help getting it into the 29er tyre.
