Yes I was intrigued by that too. The old duffers in the HoL need them because they're so ancient I guess.

Anyway they can add BBB to the list now as well! (to the list of users not the list of old duffers...)

RIP wrote: Mon Feb 08, 2021 8:57 pm Not sure these qualify as a "bargain" as per thread title, but I needed some thermals and bought them from this place. Made in Britain, amazingly perhaps, so I think £15 leggings & £17 tops is a bargain in that context.

I’m somewhat intrigued by the ‘We Supply:’ section:
Environment Agency - fair enough probably PPE for some of them.
Eastenders - costumes? filming outside, yeah ok.
House of Lords - what?!
You've shown and an unhealthy in thermal undergarments.😁
I dismissed them straightaway as there aren't any 'roll/zip collars'.

How much do they weigh?

For clarity I mean the thermals not the House of lords

Dunno. Probably fairly hefty. I shall try and remember to check when they arrive. TBH they're intended for Today's Ride or walking etc. For bikepacking no doubt I'd just suffer without as usual.

At the risk of sounding like a pushy salesperson here Reg - you should really look into a heated gilet. Joe has some in his shop. They are genuinely gamechanging. I can post you mine to try if you want a shot of one for a wee bit.

Thanks for the offer B. This will require considerable contemplation though - it's like buying some slippers: beginning of oldmandom!

I am neither old nor a man, so I can safely say that neither is required to own one.

Planet have some models of sports shades/specs discounted to £8.00, I purchased the Carnac Perform model as prescriptive insert frame were about a £5 extra, no case & only 1 set of lenses,, hence low price... & only white & blue tint. Other models available at less discount

Arrived. Long sleeve top 189g. Leggings 157g. Pretty good I reckon. Not itchy at all. Bought three of each. Plus some bonus cream coloured wool/poly/viscose leggings for £2 which amazingly aren't itchy either.

And, you get a nice warm feeling inside as well as outside because they're made in a sweatshop in Leicester instead of a sweatshop in China :???: .

If they're sweating in Leicester at the moment, that's a pretty good advert for their product.

I got some of the socks in their sale area. Toasty :-bd

Be interesting to see if they keep their lovely fluffy properties after a wash or two.

  • I am helping Neris with their Pack Raft launch and development here in the UK.
  • I'm not getting paid but I have had 3 demo boats from them that I have not paid for, for me to use and also to let people test paddle up here in the North West.
  • I am helping them develop a TPU range of lightweight pack rafts that are coming off the laser cutting machine in 2 or 3 weeks time before going in to stock and then hopefully a bike pack rafting TPU pack raft at an affordable price point for this spring/summer.
At this moment in time Neris only have PVC pack rafts, these are great for paddles where you park your car or van near the water or you can walk up to a mile or so to the waters edge to have a paddle, or even car share down a river section.
These are NOT suitable for back pack rafting into the wilds or strapping to your bikes as they are 3 times heavier than TPU pack rafts and because they are PVC they are impossible to fold down small enough to carry too far on a bike.
But add the price of a PFD (Personal Floatation Device) - 4 piece paddle (easy to carry) to a TPU boat and it's hard to get change from £900 to £1000.

But I've worked out that only 20% of the time I actually need the lightweight and small folding TPU pack raft for my trips, most of the time I pack raft from my car or campervan or even walk to the local canal from home. So PVC cheaper pack rafts do have their place (80% of my paddling) and they are perfect to get you started on the pack rafting ladder, or if they you and your family are going to be treated roughly and bounced off rocks.
So it's N+1 on pack rafts too.
Start with a PVC one and watch this place for future lighter pack rafts.

As part of the launch I suggested a Bare Bones starter package, as Neris is one of the only 3 UK places that carry all the parts that you need and they are the only one of these places to offer a budget range to get you started on the pack rafting ladder.

Right now that's over with.........(sorry)

I've just spotted ;-) this bargain for just £385

The Neris LotaFun Basic model (open topped no spray deck)
Inflatable seat with back rest
And foot pump for inflation.

And a PFD that complies with all the relevant safety standards

I have just had a look and he has measured them straight across on the flat. They are actually more like 34cm not 32cm. I'm not entirely sure how you measure such things - the 34cm is with the elastic not pulled out so obviously they would stretch to more than that. 34*2=68cm = 26.7inches but they look like they would do up to a 32 inch waist without being too stretched.
