Cheese rolling is highly amusing too

I found the cheese rolling girl very inspiring. She had zero tinge of ego and it was amazing to see how supportive of each other the competitors were.

My brother lives in Kniveton so you can camp in his garden for the football. Also I know Neil Rutter who used to be the world bog snorkelling champion. Think he won it twice.

A college mate's family owns the land on which the Bog Snorkelling takes place, he farms 100's of acres of the Eppynt firing ranges which he leases from the MOD. The land is only fit for sheep and he regularly finds the remains of unlucky ones who have been blown up. I imagine Gordon Green who thought up the Bog Snorkelling and the Man vs Horse Marathon is no longer with us. I actually entered the last Man vs Horse vs Bike but having practiced the course in atrocious weather, the bike class was called off as a local nimby found a statute banning bicycle racing on bridleways.
Edit, seems Gordon Green is still going but no longer involved, the Real Ale Wobble is a good day out as well, from what I can remember.

And, paradoxically, extreme violence . Who'd've thought there could be so much damage resulting from booting a few bottles around, trying to kick each other's shins, kicking a football along a stream, chasing a bit of cheese etc. The savage is lurking only just below the veneer of civilisation. I've watched the first series of Hinterland last week and onto the 2nd this week, I'm really enjoying it despite the drearyness.
This evening I watched the winter bivi episode, don't remember the farmhouse looking like that, almost looked habitable.

Yep, veteran of many a Wobble; some great memories from the early days of that event. Never have done the Bog Snorkelling though. Also very nearly did the Cheese Rolling on Coopers Hill but 'chickened out'! You need to see just how steep that hill is first hand I've been to watch a couple of times and seen some impressive flying human cartwheels Another one I've watched is the Tetbury Woolsack race, why would you?1?

That's spooky as I started watching that on Wednesday evening! How did you know? I need to get my tinfoil hat back out It is a good watch, I'm abut 30 minutes in so far. I spent the first 20 minutes stopping it and looking at his bike as it looked like a single speed but I spotted the shifter, but no sign of the hub gear I eventually spotted it's a pinion, and a belt drive one at that.

A couple on Prime last night,

Walking the Camino - no bike content but nice parallels for any traveller, mainly watched for the spooky 'I remember that corner!?' moments from when Andy and I rode it in 2012. Reminded me that it wasn't just my memory, really is a beautiful landscape. Lots of shots of open country with an obvious gravel track winding across it.
Tugende - Ryan Le Garrec's film about the Race Around Rwanda, a fan of his photography and the film is interesting too.
