As we're only allowed to do one form of exercise a day, walking, running or cycling, is this is official government confirmation that triathlons are not proper exercise :wink:

I'm currently stuck at my parents house (long story, involves rather rapid terminal cancer) and it's non essential that I go back home....
Sorry to hear that Zip. Sounds proper sh1t.
Likewise.

Hold her hand. Wish I'd done it more when my Dad was ill (when he was poorly, not necessarily all the time).

My son has being doing his DoE, helping with litter picking and general village maintenance (cutting hedges, scrubbing signs etc). He's under the wing of one of the villages elder statesmen, who should be at home isolating for the next 12 weeks in case he and his wife pop their clogs.
He's not the actual DofE, is he?

We do have a very low bar though remember :wink:

(presumably a 3-day triathlon would count...) ((although the lack of 2 nights sleep might rule that out for all but super-insomniacs))

Bike shops can stay open and mail order is all clear.

Nice to profit from the suffering of others.
It just seems unjust that someone shot president Reagan, utter Clint.
There has been all sorts of nonsense between China and the states seemingly. Trump keeps referring to it as the Chinese virus etc etc.
I'm not often given to vindictiveness but it would be good if Trump got Cov19, suffered with it really badly and only just recovered; and then got hammered at the next election.

There goes plans for camping...
I'm a little surprised that it took that many coppers. Just seemed to be lacking an armed response team.

And a chopper :lol:

Still judging by the opprobrium and outrage reported in the article (you know journalism's gone to sub standard when it's quoting comments from social media) they probably should have been lined up and shot.

I get that we're on lock-down but some of the foaming-mouth reactions to stuff is just tedious. Hey ho :cool: :cool:

Why is it that things like this bring out the worst of some folk and the best of others?

Coronavirus Regs came into effect yesterday - http://www.legislation.gov.uk/uksi/2020 ... 350_en.pdf

Reg 6(2)(b) - to take exercise either alone or with other members of the household. As posted on social media - "Contrary to some advice on social media, there is NO restriction on distance and there is NO restriction on the number of times you do this per day."

Yet the govt advice was once a day for reasonable periods. This is where it gets difficult, some will use the regs to justify their actions, some will understand the intent of 'once a day'. I expect you can't go into detail legislating for forms of exercise, interpretations will vary and that's why other govts took an either-or approach.

Those are Regs just for me presumably so you're OK :wink: .

So where was the 'no restrictions' bit posted James? As you say, seems to leave it as open season for "let's see how I can bend the rules" interpretation rather than "I'd better play nicely without taking the piss"?

For April, I'd be interested in riding to a nearby spot as 'Day 1 exercise', kip, then home early AM as 'Day 2 exercise'. Obviously I'd be steering clear of people and not touching anything. The riding parts seem pretty watertight but the kipping sounds a bit iffy - it's hardly 'staying at home unless absolutely necessary' is it? Even if I was hidden away it's not in the spirit, despite being zero risk to anyone else. Really don't want to break Rule#1 but....

All the above does seem to pale into insignificance compared to the breeding grounds called supermarkets though...

Hmm.

James missed a new line from his post which looks confusing. The regs state
6.—(1) During the emergency period, no person may leave the place where they are living
without reasonable excuse.
(2) For the purposes of paragraph (1), a reasonable excuse includes the need—
(a) to obtain basic necessities, including food and medical supplies for those in the same
household (including any pets or animals in the household) or for vulnerable persons and
supplies for the essential upkeep, maintenance and functioning of the household, or the
household of a vulnerable person, or to obtain money, including from any business listed
in Part 3 of Schedule 2;
(b) to take exercise either alone or with other members of their household;
So while nothing is stated in terms of distance or frequency there's obviously a difference between a short loop close to home that takes an hour or so and an all day ride that covers large areas of the country.
