Me and a mate/neighbor brokered a deal with Mrs Gairy whereby if/when I reach 95kg I can begin my homebrew craft beer journey BUT all activity will cease if I ever again reach 100kg.

Still a way off but it's good to have goals :-bd

Afternoon all,

So.....I got back yesterday from a bloody lovely three day tootle on the bike. During which I rode my bike for at least 7 hours per day (elapsed time, probably 5.5 hrs moving time). At a non-sedentary pace (AVG 18kph over mostly gravel terrain).

I didn't kick the arse out of the food and had only a few pints each evening.

It was in the late 30°s (got to 40°c at one point yesterday) and so I clearly sweated a LOT but it was so hot that I felt pretty much dry the entire time.

All this is leading up to the fact that this morning I'm up over 2kg - WTF???

Just water retention after filling myself to the brim with water after finishing?

Has anyone had a similar fluctuation after a bike trip???

I'm hoping that it's temporary and that the net result will be further loss once things settle down but in the meantime I'm struggling not to feel miffed!

You know that heart beat graphic on the cover of Dark Side of the Moon? That’s what my weight is like after a big ride :o

A mixture of water retention and overcompensation.

I always seem to gain weight if I drink more than a beer a week - probably water retention which is odd since these days even 1 beer will mean I'm up all night peeing

I don't think I've ever lost weight after a multi-day social ride, I eat and drink much more than normal.

Weighed myself for the first time in three months. That's the first step.

Next is getting a handle on depression and avoiding alcohol (so that I don't make stupid food choices).

New low for the year :-bd but more effort needed to get things moving faster in the right direction.

Lots of riding right now so no complaints on that front. Portion sizes and meals all nice and healthy. Beer consumption moderate. Snacking on crap not eliminated but equally not crazy.

Just need to be slightly better behaved and I should see further loss.

Bum!

But...not a problem as I know exactly what the problem was and am already getting my sh1t together.

I've been riding loads and therefore I completely let my guard down re: calories in and booze drinking - :-bd

So I'll go back to not do that and then I'll continue to lose weight - win!

Well. It's been a while since I checked. I wasn't sure where I'd be but am ok with what I see. For today at least.

2020 peak mass 109.7
Start of thread 21/02/20 - 104.70
Last check 31/07/20 - 95.5
This week 15/09/20 - 95.6

As evident from the dates, I just stopped looking for a bit but tried to behave and have been riding plenty, though not enough it seems.

My goal needs chasing again really, though that may mean some of my new clothes wouldn't fit... If I can get there that is.!

Thought I’d chime in on this one.
I started daily fasting, fast 20 hrs eat in a 4 hr window, since August 5th 20 lost two and a half stone. Riding more regularly now but most of the weight came off due to the fasting.
I find it quite easy to stick to as you don’t really need to restrict anything.

After losing a fair amount last year I lost my mojo and piled it all back on with the the help of lockdown eating and drinking binges. Took 3 weeks off the beer at the beginning of August along with signing up to Weight watchers (all the others in the house started on it too, which helps) This has worked surprisingly well, lost over a stone and now down to 16st 5lbs. Trying for 15 by the end of the year, with a goal weight of 14 eventually.

20/4 is good going. Fair play.

I think I'd struggle to actually eat enough as I tend to eat, leave it an hour then train for an hour and a half / two hours. I'd have to smash in another meal right after training and then stop.

I would like to get back to 18/6 though. I've been hovering around 16/8 as I've started snacking late at night.

I like the idea but I find I run out of steam very quickly without constant little bits of food (I don't actually eat much in single meals).

Gonna give this another go..... (probably 18/6 for now).

Surely I must have burnt some fat riding my bike for been 5-9 hours a day for six days in a row???
I had to post this now as I'll likely have done something stupid by Friday and messed everything up again :-bd

Seems I had indeed burned off some fat as I'm looking (a bit) thinner and now that I've stopped 'catch-up' eating I'm down to my lowest weight for 3 years (maybe more?).

I'm back.

14/02/20 - 70.5kg
----------------
25/09/20 - 68.8kg (-1.3kg)
02/10/20 - 68.1kg (-0.7kg)

Target: 64kg (Christmas break)

Have realised that I'm basically going to have to stop drinking for a while. I'm no longer capable of having just one, probably due to struggling with depression still.

Diet is much better though, so that's at least something.

Crap! I must be depressed!

[Note: I'm not really making light or mocking. Weirdly I often become aware of periods when I'm feeling down not by feeling it in myself but by suddenly becoming aware that I'm drinking more and more - not good!]

It's a lack of self control for me. I get to a f*ck it, why not have another stage.

When like that it's easier to just stay away (though obviously not "easy").

I realise you mean in FF, but you never really went away Rich. Some folks Here are part of the furniture, in a nice way. Amazing how you've dealt with your battle, and not minding being open about it Here.

Anyway, you still haven't ticked off all the Star rooms, so "keep on buggerin' on" .
