I’m looking for some 27.5+ rims to build up a set of wheels for 3” Chronicles. The only rims I can find within my £100/pair budget are Raceface AR40 for £71 and Halo Vapour 50 for £98.
Does anyone have any experience with these rims or have any other recommendations?

Is there no WTB Scrapers about, either 40s or 45s?

Can’t find any in the UK. Have seen some Asym i35s on Wiggle for £45 but thinking I should be looking for a minimum of 40mm id.

Yeah, I always think 3" tyres deserve a 40mm or wider rim to get the best from it. I've no personal experience of the Halo rims but I have heard a few good reports.

I’ve got a Halo 50 front wheel. It’s good. Decent weight, seats tubeless easily and seems tough.

That’s good to know thanks. The Halo is about 150g heavier than the raceface and some have said the raceface isn’t particularly tough.

I’ve built up a few Halo rims for different bikes and rate them highly. Durable and reasonably priced.

Once you put a 3 inch tyre on it you won’t notice any weight difference in the rim.

Also have a look at the Alpkit wheels.
Not the lightest, but mine where cheap as chips and after 2 years of abuse still run true.

I've got some Love Mud wheels (and I'm not exactly a tiny human) and after a few years they're still nice and round too - happy customer.

I have a pair of WTB scraper rims that I need to sell, one 40 and one 45mm ID. PM me if they'd be useful to you :-bd
