The advertising blurb that accompanied this picture said "β€˜It’s not just a helmet, it’s part of my style.’ and 'Dashel helmets have a unique style and look' .... they're not kidding are they unless you work on a building site obviously.

There's probably a good joke in there somewhere about polishing it to a beautiful, glossy shine.. I lack the comedic chops to do it justice

well who could deny they had managed to combine style and safety as was their aim.

The only advanatge i can see for that helmet is that when they were young and my youngest objected to helmets i could have pretended he was dressing up as a fireman

I think it needs a ventilation er, slit, running from the upper forehead to the rear of the skull, then it'd be perfect :-bd

Sorry, couldn't remember the model, but the Darth Vader one , everyone wanted, but couldn't afford! Think the alien was a cheap copy but ACU /BS approved.
We all had iridium visors too!!
Had my ear clipped by a few officers for err...minor infringements, small no.plates, black visors....etc! Sigh!!

the Darth Vader one
That was the Bandit. The RX was more Stig but well before him and you're right, buying mine broke me, I recall it was a shade under Β£400 then. Here's it is atop Dee's 650.

Normally the Rx/Simpson helmets were synonymous with the Rd 350 LC brigade

Oh yes, spent my 17th summer riding with the 'South London LC Cult' ... Happy days and I still wonder how I reached 18.

Yep but the days of having a fully equiped workshop are over so this was a saw an' file job. Yeah, Lockheed twin pot, pretty much the same T140 etc.

I have no idea about motorbikes at all so this might be total bobbins for those that know, but that bike is really pleasing to the eye. Great colour green, unfussy, and functional but in a good way. I likely.

I remember fitting a RD400 engine into my mates "L plated" coffin tanked RD 250 . He was another one with his front wheel up in the air at any opportunity!
I am amazed he survived his teens too!
Unfortunately my parents wouldn't allow me to have a motorcycle at 17, hence I spannered all my mates bikes and missed out on the learner 250 two stroke era
I did comply with their wishes. Passed my car test, bought an Austin 1100,two weeks later passed my bike test on a mates YB100, and tried to buy a brand new Laverda Jota. Could not touch the ground on it  ,ended up with a new Ducati 500pantah πŸ™‚ happy days!! ( Crippling finance deal though!)
