For those who want minimal be want to try pack rafting.
No this one won't carry a bike (too well) and is only for calm waters but here's how low you can go
Anfibio Nano SL - Pack raft, seat, back rest and inflation bag weight - 1271 grams
ANFIBIO FLY - 5 piece paddle - 458 grams
Inflatable life jacket (PDF) for calm waters
ANFIBIO BUOY BOY - PDF - 439 grams
Total weight - 2,168 grams for an adventure enabler
Looks like and advert for Anfibio, but it's not, yes I got a good deal on all 3 items but this post is just to show you how light and small you can go

I think you should sell me that paddle for a tenner ... otherwise I'll be forced to try and make a lighter one

I used my faster pack raft for B&Q yesterday but it was only 5 matchpots, so this would have been fine, just slower on the water ;-)

Here’s some inspiration for your carbon fibre bodging Stu..... how easy is it cutting the tubes? Really fine tooth saw? I ask as I’m tempted to have a go.

Wrap in tape and use a 32tpi blade (a new one). Smarten ends with a fine file.
