Is a Signal Ti preposterous for long trips?

I'm in the market for a Ti bike, I've recently ridden a Sonder Camino Ti, which was honestly the best bike I've ever ridden. However, I have a Rose Cross bike which is just about passable for the gravel/adventure mile munching at the moment and I fancy upgrading my Ramin 3+ instead. (May well look at a Camino Ti in a few years anyway).

I'm looking for something I can BP on and also ride all day in the Lakeland fells as I live in SW Cumbria and everything I ride tends to be rocky bridleway, rocky descents and then road in between. The Sonder Broken Road seems the best compromise, but I was wondering what it would be like living with the drawbacks of a hooliganesque Sonder Signal Ti on longer less technically demanding routes? (Ultimate aim is TD, but worry Signal Ti would too big a drawback for that?)

Dunno about the Signal but.... I've done bike parks and bike packing on my Stanton Sherpa and that comes in Ti flavour. Honestly the best bike I've ever owned.

Hadn't really noticed the Signal before but I can't really see why it couldn't be built into a light enough mile muncher. The TD isn't technical but comfort / fit will be important ... so if it works for you.

I do know there's a number of folk on here who ride Titus Firelines and like them - just a thought.

I've been looking at the signal too for a more modern mtb then my trusty inbred 26"
Think I'll have to get a demo

one of those really given where you live [ lucky bastard] but no one bike is going to be perfect for all the terrain available. If i only had to have one it would probably be similar to what you have for all round perfromance. However realistically I would have a Largish travel FS [and another bk for what you describe] as the fun stuff will be so much more fun on that and i could live with it on the rest of the terrain, Not living there only my FS ever goes to the lakes now.

In the 18 months i lived there I did one CX bike ride [ first half of the jenn ride/lakeland 100 basically]- its seemed a waste with all those proper mountains available
YMMV but that bike looks capable of doing what you want it to do

If you have a look in fb for the Sonder owners group, there have been a few posts recently about the signal ti. It seems to be loved very much by people that have them. There is a reason you don’t see many Sonders second hand, and most owners (myself included) end up with more than one Sonder.

I'm late to this party as I've just put myself back in bike dilemma.

I was thinking on getting a sonder signal to recon 11 or 12 speed....


This came after I liked the Broken Road but as I want 29 x 2.6 I may as well consider the signal. I could use this for long off Road routes in the lakes and certain bear bones events...This may make my Wednesday 29plus surplus to requirement. What are people's thoughts? I didn't want to make a new topic as it's kinda still on this topic. Thanks.

Broken Road takes 29 x 2.6. Same dilema and chose Broken Road due to huge frame bag and bottle capacity, whilst still reasonably progressive geometry. Allen, surprised didnt borrow mine on WRT? Welcome to have a go on Jennride?

I didn't know I had this problem till now, so I wouldn't have noticed to have a spin! I love the look of the signal, I could still carry 3 water bottles using two feed bags and one downtube... plus it's a smidge cheaper than the Broken Road...

If I've not sorted something I may just ask you that! What build did you have on it again?

XL Frame up build. Fox 34 perf elite 110mm forks. Shimano 1 x 10 11-46, hope brakes and wheels. Now got new rims 30mm internal, 2.25 rear/2.4 front. No dropper (at the moment). Just let me know when :-bd

Duncan makes a good point about the customisation. Extra bottle bosses on Signal possible, or a Broken road without the sliding dropouts and more rowdy geo.

Or go straight to Waltly, where Sonder get them from.

I have a sardinha in steel. Its very nice but I spend rather too much time looking at the ti sardihna and the ti britango.

Yeah I've seen those before, but I don't want to fall into the "I'll just buy a frame" trap. Even if the tram was 100 quid, it always ends up being so, so expensive.

I had a good go on the Signal Ti when trying to decide which HT to go for.

If I was to have one bike for everything it would be the Signal.

It felt spot on fit wise, loved the geo for the more full on side of things and it rolled/covered ground with ease.

The space for big 29'' rubber gives great options for normal tyres and mud plugging.

I like the custom extra bottle bosses.

In the end I went with a carbon Transmitter as I specifically wanted a razor sharp handling woodland single track type thing to compliment my fully rigid Kinisis FF29 and my bombproof build Spesh Enduro. Thus far the Transmitter has done nothing but impress, the happiest I've ever been with a bike, fast as, fun and very well made.

As for going straight to Waltly, it's an option but I would say Alpkit are an outstanding company to work with. Great communication, outstanding customer service and a solid warranty.... worth any premium.

There is a Signal in my future.... it's just a matter of when.

Thanks for the response. In dewp in coversation with them. This kinda started when I spoke to Rich back in Feb about a frontier...it since escalated....

Apologies if this counts as a hijack. Any idea how the signal compares to the solarisMAX?

From my very limited skills they are almost identical weight. Both look very relaxed. I can see the signal will take a slightly longer fork, but the cotic has more options on wheel size.
