Well, it's here and the Galaxy is breathing a sigh of relief, it didn't enjoy going off into the woods a couple of weeks ago!
I now have a spanking new Jamis Dakar and boy have things changed! At the tail end of last year I got rid of a 12 year old Trek mtb that was a bit like triggers broom.......all original except it was on it's 4th set of wheels, 3rd transmission set, 3rd saddle, 2nd handlebars and more.
Me and the new Jamis went for a spin round Ashton Court today, and it was quite odd. A bit like when you have been going out with the same person for ages, but after splitting up you find a new partner and start sleeping with them. The ride is essentially the same and what you are used to, but some bits are smoother, maybe tighter, respond differently when you do what you are used to doing, some bits are bigger and you have to adjust how hard you squeeze to get the same response!
Now I have to figure out how to load it up and get out for February's bivvi next weekend
