New Frame

Post by zigrat »

Ok so I'm having some doubts about the suitability of a lightweight carbon hardtail for bikepacking abuse so I'm thinking of pulling the pin and getting a Cotic Solaris and swapping the stuff over. Anyone got any thoughts on this or willing to offer a frame choice I may have overlooked and can afford i.e. around £600 (NB have had a Sir9 and Swift in the past and don't want an On-one). Also I can't decide on blue or green, decisions, decisions......

Ive been looking at a Pipedream skookum 29er hard tail
It's 853, can be run geared or SS. Tapered head etc etc
Even Has a break in the chain stay for a gates belt drive
All for under £400.... seems a bargain ( no fork at this price)
Would give you the option of bouncy or rigid at the front

Also comes in bright green and welsh based.
Their bikes seem to be getting great reviews

I was looking for another Singular swift, but this is now on my wishlist
Not ridden one yet but at this price might just take the chance
2924 miles per Gallon

I LOVE my new Solaris!!!!!

It rides (near as damn it) just like my Soul (a sniff less chuck-about-able) and, so far, has delivered in every area I hoped it would - looks lovely too!

Having said that I haven't had it long or used it a massive amount and so mine is very much a short-term review (but I'm certainly looking forward to putting the years in on it).

That Pipedream sounds interesting though too!

Have you gone for anything yet? be interested to see what you go for

I'm on my first 29er, it too is a lightweight carbon jobbie. I even bought it second hand, it was just too good to resist.
I origonally wanted to try out a steel frame and make sure I got on with the wagon wheels and then eventually go for a Ti frame. at the moment I cant see me swapping the carbon frame until (if it ever does) it packs in. It seems strong enough and is ace to ride.
I cant see that a frame bag would fit in there though!
