Things that make you happy

I thought its only fitting that, as BBs normally have their cup half full more often than half empty, we should have the opposite of the 'Things that make you sad' thread present also...

Since I made it'll shall I start (thanks, dont mind if I do  )..

Just now after losing about 600g off my bike by swapping wheelsets and then weighing it in with all fenders and lights attached. Coming in at 8.3kg, made me smile a little...

But what makes me happy alot more than that, is what the bike does for a living. After managing to sponsor 10 Syrian orphans from my charity ride of a few months back, when the pictures of the children (the charity doesnt manage to keep supporting a specific child throughtout the year due to displacement of families inside the wartorn zones and surroundig areas) usually come through the door and how they are doing along eith what support they've managed to secure: that definitely makes/made me and the missus happy.

That like myself 400000 other people donated their giffgaff ‘great data outage’ compensation to charity rather than pocket the resulting 90 pence.
Although not being able to connect to arsebook for a whole day must have been traumatic did you really suffer that much?

They donated nearly 400k to shelter, makes you think..
One days data missed will allow lots of people to have a roof over their heads at Christmas :-bd

Ok no body else is cheerful?... reasons..

Summer, Buddy Holly, the working folly
Good golly Miss Molly and boats
Hammersmith Palais, the Bolshoi Ballet
Jump back in the alley and nanny goats
18-wheeler Scammels, Domenecker camels
All other mammals plus equal votes
Seeing Piccadilly, Fanny Smith and Willy
Being rather silly, and porridge oats
A bit of grin and bear it, a bit of come and share it
You're welcome, we can spare it - yellow socks
Too short to be haughty, too nutty to be naughty
Going on 40 - no electric shocks
The juice of the carrot, the smile of the parrot
A little drop of claret - anything that rocks
Elvis and Scotty, days when I ain't spotty,
Sitting on the potty - curing smallpox
Health service glasses
Gigolos and brasses
Round or skinny bottoms
Take your mum to Paris
Lighting up the chalice
Wee Willy Harris
Bantu Stephen Biko, listening to Rico
Harpo, Groucho, Chico
Cheddar cheese and pickle, the Vincent motorsickle
Slap and tickle
Woody Allen, Dali, Dimitri and Pasquale
Balabalabala and Volare
Something nice to study, phoning up a buddy
Being in my nuddy
Saying hokey-dokey, Sing Along With Smokey
Coming out of chokey
John Coltrane's soprano, Adi Celentano
Bonar Colleano
And bikepacking with mates :-bd

Slipping into my bear suit after a hard day of nobbing about and relaxing with a brew.

Crossing paths with a figure of 'authority' who's still able to reason / function with common sense rather than simply towing the PC / redtape / policy fob off lines ... that makes me happy and gives me a degree of hope for our species.

Seeing kids outside and not attached to some sort of electronic device.

In the supermarket, being even grumpier than usual cos it was heaving, rounded the isle and there was a young lad with Downs syndrome, he gave me the biggest smile and I smiled back, I wasn`t grumpy after that.

Today,

Picking up three wheels from the builder. One was a damaged (hole in carbon) rim a mate, who meands carbon bikes and parts professionally, fixed and will go on my ssp ultra aggro hardtail and two for my girlfriend and own everyday bikes for which the regular hub was swapped with SON dyno - light! Independency! Yay!
All three bikes have boost. Two of my trailbikes also have boost, so while the wheels were built, we still could ride whatever we wanted.

Later I went to label beer bottles at the local brewery and for the first time (it's a young brewery) we filled beer into a growler. Eager to see how it holds in there, but as you'd expect from a beer you like, I'm afraid t it won't last long. Easy to rinse, no glas waste :-bd

Seeing some wildlife (mice) on my yesterday's commute makes my happy, despite the reason for they're appearance (unseasonably warm weather).

Just watched a good film and recognised Trent Reznor's film music.

Sitting outside now and when not staring at the little screen in my hands, I can see a near full moon illuminating the clouds.

The wheel collecting, shopping and beer collecting was all done by bike (and train). Loving the car free life.

Just what I wrote on twitter

I wrote something about a hottie and a growler.
Then I added, that I hope it's not being mistaken

Installed the Supernova front and rear lights on both bikes today. What a treat :-bd
Couldn't stop heat shrinking.

Also visited very good friends and their kids for a wonderful brunch.

Also Emptied the growler.

Happy times

Diving liveaboard in the Andaman Sea.

Thought I’d spend my savings before the pound was entirely worthless...

I'm happy that ALL my ancestors, from the earliest slime in the primordial seas, through all the ages and extinctions, have, without exception, been attractive enough to find a partner and healthy enough to produce and raise a next generation, leading to ME :-bd

That's an ace post Frog :-bd. Conjures up all sorts of reflections. I can just picture those two slimes gazing rapturously across the marsh into each others eyes(?) and thinking "in ten billion years...."...... Sadly in my case I think evolution's gone backwards .

Visited my mum over the weekend and she gave me a picture she'd found while tidying. It's my dads dad who I never met - he was only 43 when he died so well before my time. I knew he'd spent much of his life in the navy and survived a number of torpedo attacks during the war but I didn't know much else ... anyway, here he is aboard the HMS Iron Duke looking very young.

What was his name?
I'm guessing Wright?
His forenames?
Which war did he serve in 1st or 2nd or both?
