Right it has arrived. I am not at home but my wife is sending it back Special Delivery either today or tomorrow. If you go organising another one again there WILL be a fatwa.

There should be a link on the email you received when you registered. Someone mentioned it in the HT550 thread.

Hi, getting my planning in early. I need a tracker for the HT550 late May 2019. Should I try and borrow one/hire one/buy one?

Hi peeps,

I'm after a spot or similar for the dales divide, April 19th-22nd.
Ideally could do with it a couple of days before.

Can anyone help? Ta.

Seems like a lot of outlay when a mobile will work in most places, although I tend to figure Dee will know soon enough once my corpse is discovered in some remote bus shelter.

Where the mobile doesn't work is exactly where the Spot is most useful

Obviously  My point was really that, there's not many places where mobiles won't work, so unless you're going to those places on a regular basis, why bother? Seems that people can't be out of contact with loved ones for anymore than half an hour these days before panic sets in ... what did we do before?

Good point from both of you - I'm more than happy being without reception, except for extreme danger of death, which hopefully I'd avoid like the plague. Just trying to figure out how to get a few extra brownie points for when I start doing over night solos...if my tent turned up and it wasn't blowing a hoolie today I'd have done the route you sent me Stuart...

I guess the most emergency item I'll need is my whisky, and I have plenty of that!

I wanna know why these spots are becoming more the norm for events? Since when do we really need them, we always got by before. Are we going soft or are we all becoming paranoid about safety. Im convinced they are only for others to watch such events at our extra cost. Or am i totally missing something here :0)

I too do wonder how much is down to producing a spectacle for the computer viewer at home ... but I'm a cynical b'stard so best ignored.
