Go on then, what are your 2018 plans?

Nice and simple for me
-TINAT 300 slow riders group in June
-Ride more, which should be easier now I've changed jobs and not working 6 days/week either :-bd

and most importantly, enjoy life and be content with myself (see above job change)

Lots of things planned for next year.
January, having a week cycling in Gran Canaria thanks to that nice Mr O'Leary we have our flights paid for due to the Ryanair ballsup in September.
March, MrsPB is running the Barcelona marathon, no doubt in well under the 4 hour target she's set herself.
Easter, doing a 4 day bikepacking trip in Andalucia, the GR247 is a 200 mile loop in 2000m mountains near Jaen. Inspired by this http://www.bikepacking.com/routes/gr247-spain/ Given it'll be MrsPB's first bikepacking trip, we're going soft and sleeping in the refugios that are strategically dotted along the route.
May, I'll be repeating the SPANISH C2C that we premiered this year, hopefully with a similarly barmy group, PM me with any questions or declarations of intent.
June probably doing the Pirinexus 360 again, a 352km gravel race from Girona, across the Pyrenees twice and back in under 20 hours. Thoroughly enjoyed it this year.
Spring to Autumn, we will be offering B&B accommodation in the 3 bed apartment that adjoins our little finca in the south of Cataluña. We've been collecting a range of different sized road and mountainbikes so I will be able to do guided rides and bike hire so avoiding the hassle of flying with a bike. (don't worry I have cleared this stealth ad with Stu)
July & August fiesta!
September, must do the Turin Nice as I opted to follow the Vuelta instead this year.
Thats not including the fortnightly series of mountainbike races that take place all around our area, they are great fun and we find out where all the best hidden singletrack is. I don't usually grace the podium but MrsPB usually wins her category.
That's all I can think of for now.
Seasons greetings to all Boners.

A mixture of things as ever. In no particular order:

Dirty Reiver 200: I know I criticised the cost in the "Is it just me..." thread but I thought I'd have a go at a lumpy stone event.
HT550: was this year a fluke?
Cairngorm Loop: I sort of did it this year but skipped a couple of sections due to flooding so need to do it properly.
Lakeland 200: been on my todo list for too long now.

No doubt other things will come along and mess that lot up

Big changes. - already started implementing some.

Get out of Africa (work)

Strathpuffer in a singlespesd quad with mates

Looking for a job in the UK(feelers out in a few leads) Failing that I'm prepared to take 6months out and ride my bike. (Of which I have a few big trips planned) and go back to bike spannering for a while.

Testing fitness to see if wembos a feisable option. (Go big or go home)

Possibly 10under the Ben as a tester to see how I'm going.

Let's see where the next 12 months go.

I felt the same about the HT550 finish being a fluke, but it took me two more attempts to prove it wasn't!

I fancy the Lakeland 200 too, again it's been on my list for ages. Unsure when though
May is a 'fun' HT430 for me, doing the original route.
Maybe head over to Iceland for a long weekend
If flights come down in price then a US trip as a couple of mates have scheduled a week-long beer and biking tour in Colorado
Strathpuffer, for my sins.
Maybe Cairngorms Loop later in the year, July/August work well for dry trails but the September mass start could be fun.
Borders 350 - it sounds brutal, and this is the appeal to me!

My plan is to get to the end of another year with a few more bike miles in my legs and a few more good memories in the bank. After every grimace along the way there is usually a smile

I'm kinda struggling with the notion that 2017's nearly over. I think I'm still waiting for the arrival of summer in my head.

First thing is to get another job! Next on the list is to get my wrist repaired, a very minor spill on the WRT damaged a tendon. Currently up to codine level pain, at the moment I can still ride when dosed up, saw specialist today he’s going straight to surgery so hopefully back 100% soon.

Bike plans involve BB winter event and WRT, bivy a month again and hopefully some longer trips. I love long trips with multiple nights out, the simplicity of waking up and just riding the bike all day, hoping for a week somewhere as yet unplanned

To be fair, I’d just be happy if it turns out to be less sub standard than this year was.

I really need to pull my head out of my arse and get out there and remember how much I love being out.

We’ll see.

First off I'm getting married this year, that's eaten a large chunk of my holiday allowance already. And to help my time and money disappear even faster between now and then I picked up a 2004 Audi TT which I need to make sure is in fine fettle as we're driving it to Italy and back for the wedding and honeymoon.
Regarding more bike and bivvying type things though, I want to master wheelies and manuals, BB200 - sub 24hr please, YD200 maybe? After my first race this year on the BB, I might have the bug.
Getting my VV explorer square count up to 25, could be interesting as I have the Severn Estuary immediately south west of home and theres at least one square thats not going to be very popular with the nice people in SARA.
Maybe a couple of routes I've been looking at, Ridgeway, TransCambrian and a off road version of the sustrans Radnor Loop I've been trying to work out.
Other than that, getting out and bivvying/camping and generally riding my bike as much as possible.

My plans for 2018 are all a bit up in the air due to new little people, new houses and no idea how that's all gonna work or how little time I'll have.

But.....

On my wishlist is:

January - Fatbiking Europe Winter Camp

March - a lightly penciled in weekend fatbikepacking somewhere white with Gian.

April - I'd love to go back and do the Veneto Gravel Trail (but it's not looking likely it'll happen).

June - Tuscany Trail (my only event with prior permission for 2018)

July - the Etape du Tour

September - I've been chatting with a buddy about a 300-400km bikepacking gravel tour of all the best craft beer micro breweries between Lake Geneva and Chamonix (route will be available afterwards) in a big loop.

October - if all's well then we'll head back to the UK and I'll be in for the BB200

Other than that my (ongoing and poorly executed) plan is to:

- lose more weight and get a bit faster.
- bivi out more
- just have fun on bikes.

See you out there.....

In 2018 I shall not fly and save the planet.

I don't drive, never have so I get to ride more.

I'll do more of that.

Explore more places I can get to without polluting nature.

Put more work into the Raetic Trail. Take more friends out bikepacking/hiking/skitouring/whateveroutdoors.

Go on an outdoor trip with me brother

Only a couple of things planned so far.

TINAT in June, something to aim for as I'm not entirely sure I can complete it or finish in the time limit and I like that kind of challenge now and then. Always wanted to do really big road rides but road riding and me never quite got on, the TINAT's not quite a roadie route and I like that.
Torino-Nice in Sept, so far the real exception to my 'not to interested in riding the same route twice' thing. Love that area, the type of riding and the company along the way has been so good last 2 years.

Ideally get to the WRT again, that's a great weekend.
Didn't really get round to these 2 ride ideas last year - a series of time-limited audax style rides of 200,300,400 and 600km. Mixed terrain, hilly, self-regulated. Plan a 3-4 day ride into Wales based on JackT's Lost Lanes Wales book. Wales is one of my favourite places in the world these days, always was, just takes perspective to realise it.

No firm plans for 2018. Just work less, ride more. Have a notion to do something in the spring, looking at events etc for the summer, autum. Fancy the Selkirk MTB marathon, no idea why. My work contract expires on the 30th april. But i havent renewed it until october, so hopefully I will be more flexible during the better weather.

By starting a new contract mid october 2018, it will allow me to take some time out as it finishes mid May. perfect for planning for 2019....

I just updated my plans to include a weekend of fatbikepacking sometime in March (very lightly penciled in) so let's chat more about if, what, where and when.....
