DIY bar harness 'spacer' foam.

Post by ctznsmith »

Maybe this should be in the MYOG section but what have people used to space a bar harness off the bars/cables?

Current idea in my head is to get some cheap flip flops and cut squares from the soles/base.

I've seen a bit of plastic plumbers tubing that worked well

I've used some pieces cut out of gym flooring.

The square foam mats that you put together. Think I bought them from Argos a while ago.

Realised I am of the more 'frugal persuasion' so didn't really want to buy anything.

Looked at the foam backed bar tape that came off of the Digest bars I'm selling.

Chopped into squares and created a tower.

Wrapped in Gorilla tape for longevity.

Job done!

Stuart, do you want to move this to MYOG?

Sure they're not going to work their way out sideways? Can't see if you have physically attached them somehow or if they are just jammed between the bar and the harness.

Just jammed in. We'll see, but with the straps tight they shouldn't go anywhere.

I've used 40mm plastic waste pipe. Drilled a hole through it with a 32mm hole-saw, then cut the pipe through the hole to give me two semi-circular stand-offs that fit nicely round 31.8mm diameter bars.
