A bit vague this but...

The guys at borah gear are on a 7-9 week trip to Nepal from mid December and when they get back they will have a 25% sale. Top notch kit! Worth a look...

On the sportpursuit site they've got the Outdoor research 'Nighthaven' tap tent for £60

Image

Other (OR) gems (just ordered) include a little drybag for your phone which has a touch sensitive window and waterproof headphone jack built in and some nice light gaiters.

Has anyone used these before? They any good?

Very interested to hear as well - my old and heavy tent for car-camping and festivals is knackered, and that looks like an ace replacement.

Edit - bit of googling finds mostly good reviews - Tarp with mesh netting basically. Pegs apparently not the greatest - people's only problems seem to be with the angle of the walls (not sure what they expected in a tarp tent with a single pole? ) and the vent is only closable from the outside...

Never used one ^ but having used similar things I'd imagine that you'll experience a fair level of condensation which will be made worse by the shallow angle of the walls, ie you might find it difficult not to brush against them and any condensation will be more likely to drip rather than run down the walls. It's also pretty heavy at 1kg without poles.

However, for the money you can't go far wrong, just set it up a couple of inches higher to help with ventilation.

EDIT:
(not sure what they expected in a tarp tent with a single pole? )
It needs/uses 2 poles.

Doesn't get much more barginous than free:

Peak Finder is the free app of the day on Amazon App Store (usually £2.60 on google play)

Peak Finder is the mobile app version of this site to identify nearby peaks/hills/mountains:
http://www.peakfinder.org

e.g. view from Ullswater

Amazon app store can be had from here if you have an android phone and don't have it already:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/mas/get/android/

The free app of the day is just on the front page when you load amazon app store.

I got some 'multi sport glasses' from aldi for £7. Three sets of lenses too. They are well vented and don't seem to steam up at all (yet)

They are quite chunky and my wife said they did look a little like something bono wore in the 1990's. But they work well so I don't care!

AVT have a clearance sale going on - King, Pauls, Phil Wood, White Industries. Some good prices if you're after some slightly obscure bling.

Posted on the Rov150 thread but might have some more general interest.

Chilly's stainless thermal bottles. Lilac and bogie green half price at a tenner. Only just ordered so can't comment on actual heat retention or if they fit in a cage but online reviews are positive.

Just seen this on STW - http://singletrackworld.com/forum/topic ... ameset-175 was tempted but no way I could get there to collect and no knowing how much delivery will cost. May be worthwhile for someone a little closer.

Er, what would you do with it? I'm sure it makes not one iota if I owned it or not...

Skim stones on it
Skate on it in winter when (very) frozen
Pack raft on it
Bivvy beside it
Swim in it
Admire it from a distance in the knowledge you own it
Take royalties off photographers who publish photos of it (tenuous link to a singletrack tweet about photographer wanting to charge STW for displaying a photo hotlinked into a forum post)
Wait patiently for more adjacent land to become available
And so on...

Interesting acquisition. Suspect it would go for much above the suggested guide, such is the rarity. Ironically, it you owned a piece of land in the LDNP and tried to get permission to create a reservoir this size, you would probably fail.
