I think Stu pointed out that Sturmey Archer made a 3 speed hub that also took a 9 speed cassette, which gave me the idea of adding a triple for a 3x3x9 gearing

I've loved the colour ways from the very beginning and loved how the 2017 models of the various 29" SB's (4.5 and 5.5) rode. Near perfect match for my riding, espacially the SB4.5.
Unfortunately the Swiss distributor is off putting, the 350.- swiss francs price tag for a new switch/bearing kit.

But yeah... sometime... I'll become part of the Yeti Tribe.

I fried mine thinking about the 3x3x9 and wondering how many ratios that would produce and now many overlaps.
I resisted googling the hub ratios as then I'd not be able to resist producing a spreadsheet

Just ordered some Panaracer Gravelking tlc sk in tan side wall and 32mm wide. Reports are that they're baggier than stated so might come in at 34mm. Hopefully they'll give me a good happy life thanks for planting the seed

You had me, right up until tan sidewall... I quite like my Panaracer Gravel King SK TLC 700x43c, they've been pretty good so far.

Yup... I was actually go for olive with tan side but was 3 quid dearer ( ... I'm not tight, honest, the money saved will go in charity of some sort: either most needy or feeding the kids/family summat nice) so a full fiver or so more

Looks nice that does, speedy. The carbon frame tracks all the way down to £1500 bikes (I know thats still a lot of money) which is sometimes cheaper than frames alone!

New Enve Adventure Fork. Thought I was going mad the other day when I couldn't find it on their website, but was seeing pictures of it from the builder expo... According to ADVNTR:

I'll miss the sub 1000 g Magic Mary, the lightest version now being 1300 g (weighed).
Interesting are (much) more options in the range of more regular trail tyres and especially fast rolling XC tyres.

I'd love to see more low profile tread designs with Addix Speedgrip/Soft (rather than Addix Speed/Speedgrip) and feel Continental (eg. X-King Black Chili) and Maxxis (Ikon 3C Maxxspeed) have more option in this segment. The Addix Speed offers far less grip in wet conditions than Black Chili or 3C Maxxspeed, which feel more like something between Addix Speedgrip and Soft.

Also the shoulder knobs of the Nobby Nic, which had the wrong shape, have now become longer and more pronounced. Soon they'll realise that the Racing Ray and Ralph would gain much from such shoulder knob design too and correct that as well

And Big Betty is back. I've long been using Magic Mary front and rear since for the riding type I do with my long travel 29" full susser I require loads of grip and since loads of the climbing I do on this bike is carry a bike terrain anyways, yet I still was thinking about using a Hans Dampf on the rear. Yet I never was a fan of Hans Dampf, especially not on the front. I actually hate it up front. My foot still hurts and I don't blame myself, but the lack of cornering grip of a tyre . I do...
Now, with the new Big Betty, Schwalbe seems to have a perfect mix, albeit hefty in weight; Magic Mary Soft Trail front, Big Betty Soft Trail rear. Yay!

Look TRAIL GRIP, look interesting...

Up to 18kg carry capacity on the M5 mounts on that Enve fork, at 575g inc the chip dropouts and all the cable route detail. I'm not sure if I find that assuring tbh..

Like all ENVE forks, the Adventure Fork is moulded in one-piece from the steerer-tube to the drop-outs. This construction method creates a lightweight fork that is also extremely reliable and strong.

That's a pretty standard process though, even for a $70 OE fork.

Interesting what they're doing there when compared to the Farr drop bar in the freaky bars thread, which has a wider OS section as well as the added loop stiffening it. Bar flex is undervalued..

Absolutely.

Installed a Pacenti P-Dent to my HT trail bike last night. Bar is 210 g at 800 mm and must have a lot of material around the dent.

There's significantly more flex in it than in all other carbon bars I had before. I can actually see it when loading the bar. Looking forward to use it and see if this flex translates to less fatigue and more comfort.

I'll probably give the Arc8 bar a try on my short travel trail bike.

A new type of inner tube from Schwalbe. Cycling Tips has an interesting article about it.
