Given the conditions backtracking seems a bit harsh.
She'll have complied with the spirit of the route, just with a small safety related diversion. No performance advantage given the waiting and additional Deathmarch

The rules do say if you leave the route, you have to join it at the same point. That's just how it is in the rules
However, in 2013, Rob Wixey crossed further up and still got a finish time, though his deviation is potentially less than Jenny's.
Still, we'll wait and see what she does.
Looks like we'll get a few more finishers in the next couple of hours: Phil Clarke is dropping down to Victoria Bridge while Alan G and Rickie Cotter are just past the Kingshouse. Carl Hutchings has just left Kinlochleven so should finish today, Javier Simon is in Ft William.
Looks like Jenny has crossed the second river and is carrying on, her position hadn't updated for several refreshes.
Better weight than wisdom, a traveller cannot carry
the furthest point she is back tracking from looks like it is on the right of the river, there don't seem to be any points clearly on the left of the river
There's another ten out on the course plus two ITT riders. Assuming all these finish that's a 60% attrition rate
No doubt we'll hear more in the coming weeks as people post their thoughts but it does seem to have been particularly nasty weather this week, day after day in strong winds and rain cannot have been pleasant and that's before you consider the terrain they've been moving over. A definite doff of the proverbial cap to one and all.

Just in case anyone is in any doubt about the current weather conditions, it's been between 4C and 8C today in Aviemore with heavy, prolonged showers and there is fresh snow on the mountains.
="Ian"]If she hits the Hotel, I think she'd do well to give the macaroni cheese a miss...
To be fair on their food, their steak and horseradish pie was lovely. Following it up with a rich creamy, cheesy macaroni dish wasn't a clever idea. Cost me a finish I reckon!
Hope she enjoys the single track sections on the way down to Poolewe, I thought they bettered most trail centres (maybe a hard won, best kept secret)
