I was waiting to use these a fair bit before posting up here. For the money I'm impressed. A few 100 miles of muddy tracks, flinty gravel roads, hardpack and road use later, no flats, no real sign of wear (ie the centre flashing is still on the front one?!) and impressive all-round performance. Predictable in mud - ie predictably near-hopeless, but less hopeless than some other MTB tyres. For a road / dry dirt tyre they actually work ok in the slop, narrow 47C profile helps (45-46mm on P35s - not really 47Cs imo). On roads and dry trails they're great, really smooth at 25-30ish PSI. Ideal cross-over / tour treads for a Fargo type of bike. I just got a second set.

I'll hold my hands up and say this is my employer/work (so delete this if you feel it's inappropriate).

Whilst they only have a single one star review, I don't think the user understood what/ how the gloves are best used. Mine have been brilliant, and I think there's a review Stu did on the blog too.

Quick point about the Glacier gloves ... the ones I've been using are the 'Pre-curve' glove not the Super G. As Ian says they're a great glove but just be careful taking them off and on. Try and be gentle with them, don't pull them off by the fingers or pull them hard by the cuff or the bonding can tear around the heel of the palm ... be nice to them and they'll be nice to you.

Planet X are having one of their Price Drop sales. Podsac event based stuff sacks in a couple of sizes for c£5. I've not used pod ones but if they're as good as the Sea to Summit versions they can make packing / compressing some stuff (usually down items) a lot easier.

Got a couple of those pod sacs there rather good.

James, how are they weight wise? I've currently got a pair of Schwalbe Marathon XRs on my Fargo. They are great tyres that I doubt I will ever be able to wear out. The only issue I have with them is their weight. They weigh a ton. I might try these Mondials if they are a bit lighter.

Pete - just weighed one of my Mondials. It's an Evolution Travelstar Double Defence and is 750g. That's 10g less than Schwalbe claim on their website
