A bit late to this thread but if Dave B is still happy to give up one of his gr's I would be happy to take one.

Right you lot

I've got 2 GR's already and they are evil.

So I'm making a slight change to the rules here and now, Reg isn't around to double check.

New rule,
If you HAVE ridden a BB200 you ARE allowed to pick your Grid Ref ANYWHERE within the 40km radius

If you have NOT ridden a BB200 I WOULD LIKE you to pick your GR within a 25km radius of BB towers

I say this so that all of the GR's aren't right on the edge of the area, this is so that Stuart doesn't have an easy time and simple have to make one big loop up and head home, we want to see zigzagging and dead ends please.

Stuart you are also allowed 3 days for your 20 GR charity challenge if you need it. Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

As Stuart says please " make sure they're legal. It's no good giving me a GR that has no RoW to it."

Image

ADDITIONAL NOTE - PLEASE CAN I HAVE SOME GR'S TO THE SOUTH AND EAST?

With SN 871976 in the middle of the 25km and 40km max radius circle.
Please grab a map when you have 5 minutes and message me your 2 letter and 6 figure Grid Reference/s.

Please don't all got for 40km from Bear Bones Towers, there are plenty of Bridleways, Ford's (Remember Ford Fiesta?), Dams, Tomb's, Bothy's to tussock's to go for within this 2 circles. Lets make iT "interesting"

Once I have them all, I'll send it to Stuart on Christmas Eve and not in minute earlier

Ooh, just a reminder - make sure they're legal. It's no good giving me a GR that has no RoW to it.

Stuart you must have upset a lot of riders over the years.

Of the GR's that I've got in already, which Reg and I are having a right laugh at plotting them on an over view map....

Only Sean (tobasco) should be kept on your Christmas Card list this year.

The rest I think hate you

Get some hill training in before January :o

It’s starting to look like £10 is remarkably good value, and seeing as Stu is being such a good sport I may well be chucking a bit more in the tin, whether my GR is reached or not.
Can’t wait to see the final route plotted out!

Rule change again....

Can the following please chose a point inside the 25km radius of Bear Bones towers?

1) JohnClimber
3) Thenorthwind
6) RIP
8) benp1
10) Cheeky Monkey
13) Shewie
15) Barney

Leaving Dave Barter to "fill in the gaps in the 40km radius

Once I have the grid refs in Dave, I'll send you them over to you, so that you can make sure Stuart's route in enjoyable, flat, dry.
Maybe up and down the Mawddach on the flat several times would be nice eh?

Looking how evil your GR is compared to the others, I think £20 is needed even if he doesn't go there, but £100 is needed if he makes it there.......

I wouldn't be able to look Stuart in the face after the one you chose

my point

We're all on tenterhooks now wondering where it is.

How about another competition where people cough up another tenner to guess where it is with half going to the (nearest) winner and half to the charities  .

Hmm.

<snaps fingers>. I know where it is! It's Stu's yard isn't it!

Just having a nosy at some maps. Strikes me that it's actually quite easy to come up with some real GR buggers - remote and high and/or miles away etc, a lot of us probably know the usual suspects to home in on - but quite a bit harder to select something surprising or unusual.....

As said above, same as the rest of us Stu ain't gotta do all or any of 'em. If that's his decision think of all those street sleepers that won't then be gaining from our munificence.

If I was Stu I'd be steaming round all the nearest ones to rake the cash in; then adding just a handful of nasties, but ignoring most of the really mental ones (although maybe cleverly including the very 'worst' one...), so that we can't accuse him of being a wuss  .

Then again being Stu he's probably already worked out an extremely cunning plan to handle whatever it is that gets thrown at him  .

Well that's fairly astounding. I'd vaguely chosen my GR a little while ago. Just been conversing with JC, who happened to mention his. Unbelievably both GR's are 200m apart on the same bridleway!

Of course, you know what's going to happen now  .

I wonder if we could Gift Aid it all to get them some more on top. I'm sure we've discussed this before but I can't remember the context. ie. it would be pooled to one of us who pays tax who then donates a matching lump gift aided. Of course, if anyone's prepared to fess up to being a 40% taxpayer we could increase it even more, if they reclaimed the extra 20% and chipped that in too. Dodgy I'm sure but nowt compared to the recent magicked up billions that have been frittered away.

What's stopping us using a JustGiving or similar which has the mechanics to do Gift Aid built in?

If I was setting it up, the only thing stopping us would be rank incompetence  .

I quite like the direct contact approach, hello Charity, here's the backstory, bit of a natter, with some photos (please Stu), and here's some dosh.

Dunno. Maybe you're right Andy.

Ah, "minus our small charges" (*), so yes personally I prefer going direct. Admittedly there's the security issue of funneling the funds through some random Boner off the internet...

(*) edit: "5%. We have done away with a 5% fee taken from the donation, instead we are now asking donors to add a small tip on top of their donation to keep us running and improving".......

How small are the small charges?

I foresee people wanting to donate over and above those doing the grid refs so it might be worth it?

Your party though

5%...

I'm perfectly happy to channel the funds.. but as I say "random bloke off tinternet".... still, "you know where I live" .

No rush anyroad, and it's far more fun if there's a bit of chaos going on.
