My plan is to find a nice boozer in Rhayader and then stumble into the night to find somewhere to lay down so we could have a BB drinking session!

I'm undecided on kit but am leaning towards:

Rab Storm Bivvy
Silnylon tarp
Revelation X quilt (if it arrives)
POE Peak Elite Mat (although i've not used this in winter yet but will try it locally when the quilt arrives and may buy an Exped Downmat 7.)
Exped air pillow
MSR Pocket Rocket or Stu's mini meths stove
Ti Mug
Other assorted unnecessary crap.

Might ditch the bivvy and tarp and go with a Stratospire 2 tarptent. Depends on forecast really.

Thanks fella ... I might travel down in my camper then and use my diesel night heater ;)

Was hoping to save a few quid in diesel but I suppose I could offer anyone else up here looking to ride a lift down :)

Think I best get my entry in

If you're lucky enough to have entered El-an Back you should now have an email containing all the details. If you haven't, check your spam folder and your other email accounts. If it's still not there email me and I'll send it again ;)

I haven't had time to put the grid refs into the OS site yet so can any one tell me which 1:50000 maps I need for the 'course' ?

I've got the OS214 1:25000 and I'm also desperately trying to get a busted computer containing my Memory Map files working but will probably end up navigating with paper (which will probably be a big mistake if the current levels of precipitation persist).

Cheers.

If anyone is looking for somewhere to stay the night before Oswestry Travelodge can be had for £15! The Tripadvisor reviews aren't great but then I'm not sure that'll upset many of you....

Gone up to £19 now, which is still cheap and as such, booked. Thanks for the heads up!

Sounds like a good distance. I've had a brief look at the grid refs but I have no clue on the local trails (except ripping off what we rode on the BB200 so who knows what sort of random route I'll come up with. My mates didnt enter so I'm flying solo.
