Thanks, been meaning to get a copy of that for a while, moreso since I read a Tim Spector book and decided I should really stop fuelling exclusively with 39p flapjacks from Home Bargains. With 10% off (Welcome10) even though I'm sure I must have ordered from them before, it was a no brainer.

Thanks. I made a few things out of it years ago when I lived with someone who had a copy... that's how long I've been meaning to buy it for myself

Reg is a bit of a fan of riding in sandals these days, whatever the weather (apart from my yearly entry in the World Downhill Championships, obviously for that they'd be most inappropriate - it'd be wellies all the way). My last lot have finally given up the ghost, and a quick search flipped up "Winfield Outdoors" as the cheapest to buy the same sort this time.

Normally £50, it said "reduced to £32.50". Lovely. I then select Size 9 and it knocks another fifteen quid off to £17.50! Oh right, well I'll have three pairs then. They should last me the rest of my life. Also, "for my first purchase" I click on a button and they email me ANOTHER discount - 5% off. I apply that for a total of £49.87. Checkout - haha! "To get free postage you need to spend another £0.13p" (£50). Of course, without the 5% discount I'd have had free postage. So now I have a quandary - chuck the 5% discount away and get free postage, or spend "another 13 pence".......... maybe a fleece... no sod it, stop impulse buying, only need the sandals.. checkout.... and it lets me have free postage anyway!

In fact it's 30% off ALL sandals and loads of other stuff too: http://winfieldsoutdoors.co.uk

I'd be feeling guilty buying all this cheap sweatshop crap, but if you can find me some UK ones then let me know. Clogs maybe. I get my non-biking footwear from a nice man in a little Sheffield workshop so that makes me feel slightly less guilty.

..... based in London (made in...?)... £84 ouch....

"Bikepacking-specific" apparently!

"QUOC x Restrap Sandal
Designed for the outdoor adventurer, this post-ride slip-on combines casual comfort with minimalist elegance and a flair of functionality. Featuring an anatomically designed footbed and a gravel-tyre inspired anti-slip tread, the thick web straps allow the sandal to easily strap over a saddle bag for carrying on a long tour".

Uh-oh, Stu will love this: "Challenging conventional parameters of cycling footwear".... "What is universal is that cycling facilitates a return to simplicity in which we can find contentment. That's why we make shoes that entirely remove obstructions, driven by a desire to simplify the ride and spread the enjoyment of cycling to as many people as possible"..... "We believe in celebrating everyone, not just those winning medals. We look up to those who ride in their own style, whose dedication to cycling transcends their gear and ranking, and who manifest the adventurous spirit and genuine camaraderie that has come to define our sport"......

Free tree planted with every purchase though - fair enough  .

There's quite probably a corresponding gravelbike tyre based on a sandals tread pattern...

Ta Laz.... "minimalist elegance" - ie looking like a right tramp

So this turned up. And then I realised if been an idiot... I thought I'd ordered the Portables book. The original book wasn't really what I wanted. But it was sold as "like new" and it certainly wasn't: creases, lots of wear, etc. which wouldn't normally bother me as long as I wasn't paying for better condition. So I contacted them, sent some pictures, and they said yep, fair enough, but we don't have another copy in stock, and would I like a different book. Well actually, I'd like the Portables book as it happens... So they sent me a copy of that, and told me to keep the other one, and I ended up with both books for the cost of the cheaper one! Feels a bit cheeky, but so you win.

There's not much of interest in the original cookbook - a lot of it seems either quite obvious, or very involved, and it's pretty meat-heavy - but I'll have a look through and see if there's anything of use to me, and then I'll probably pass it on.
