Good to see that Chris Ellison is avoiding the broom wagon.
Looks like Andrew Kulmatiskihas a good chance of being the fastest rider of this year's course if he can avoid mishap in NM.

I seem to lack the technical ability to link from my phone but there is a nice piece on the race in the NYTimes with photos. More mention of climate change than I would have thought.

A few of us were interviewed in Banff about the impact of climate change on the TD - the journo (Sabra?) was clearly steering an angle for this story.
Maybe our British answers were too reserved to be worthy of any inclusion, and the fact we'd all just flown over kind of negates any argument....

Two more Brits done yesterday, three more to go.
Quite a good article that without the sensationalisation that such a thing would have in this country. Interesting that Matt Lee is IDing himself as the 'organiser'

Yep, Phil Jones (mates with Phil G off here) and Anthony Ball finished earlier today. Both riding for charities and themselves. Cracking rides from both!!
ChrisE off here (and Dales Divide organiser) should finish today/tomorrow also. He's currently having a bad time due to rain, mud, thunderstorms, repeat.

Matt King and Robert Joseph finished - the last of the Brits en-route. So 7 Brits completed and 4 scratched, not bad going given we don't really have much, terrain wise, to compare. Stephen Petty is still going and still releasing entertaining vids on you tube but otherwise pretty much done dot watching

Whatever happened to Sofiane. Is anyone able to give a few brief paragraphs summarising it all. I stopped watching I think after Steve finished (sorry to those that were stillout there).
Only asking about Sofiane as I see somewhere here that its mentioned another chap finished with the fastesttime this year

It was this here comment that threw me off course as I was of the impression that Sofiane had finished first!

We still have Stephen Whitaker riding, he crashed, damaged shoulder ligaments, had a rest for a few days and is now carrying on. He's relegated to a tourer, but is still going, showing great determination. Was in Del Norte yesterday.
Sofiene did get fastest time - 14 days and a few hours, despite mud and snow. The other fella (Andrew Kilmikasti) scratched due to the weather after making good time but falling behind schedule (he was an ITTer).

Bloody hell - last I heard he'd broken his collar bone, glad it wasn't as bad. Proper hardcore that though!

Good read and i also [ even though you are riding hundreds of miles] find the long straight sections* strangely intimidating .
Must be weird doing that as you want to go fast but also realise you will never be back so need to enjoy it as well.
