Any chance I can join you boys for a venture around Dartmoor sometime when u go please!

Well, September went by and I didn't get out. Work and play interrupted proceedings and I only remembered after work last night. I might have still gone out but it felt like a bit of box-ticking. A new tent has arrived though so hoping to get out asap

2/10 for me - I 'm putting this down to the birth of my daughter Florence this April, she's not got the hang of cycling yet and I've not wanted to leave the family overnight until now...

So the year started with Spar and back my first bikepacking trip: And finally this month I got out for a sedate cycle from my house in Brighton along the South Downs Way to Petersfield in Hampshire, sleeping for a few hours at Chanctonbury Ring, which is an ancient hillfort which has latterly been planted with trees...
There are some long and dreary hills on the South Downs Way - though they have some amusing names

I'm looking forward to more adventures in whats left of this year and next

I have the next 4 trips already planned, so I reckon some time in Feb. I'll get in touch Dan, Gabe and Mike and we can do a run to Dartmoor etc.

After my seat post failure last week I went out for 2 days in the Clwyds on Monday/Tuesday, wouldn’t exactly call it BB200 training given the glorious warm weather and a mere 1,200m ascent but hey ho.

tarp not needed but wanted to have a full BB200 "dry" run...

Thanks Yetiman The sky's were so crisp and clear that weekend , it was worth getting freezing fingers whilst taking the photo, which I took using my phone !

Bit of a failure as I intended to ride the 200 mile gravel route starting from Devil's Bridge. My pace was way behind what I expected and I was 40km down on day 1 and did not have any plan B as I carried just a mat and bag. I could have stopped short at Moel Prysgau but decided to head back to base. I did make it to Nant Rhys and had a quiet nice there. Day one and into the afternoon of day 2 was nice but when the weather turned I was glad I had the waterproofs on. I had hoped to do the route in 3 days.

I arrived back at the Woodlands camp site looking wet ( the waterproofs did a grand job, I was dry inside) and the owner made me a coffee to warm up! It is a nice site so recommended if you are in the area.

It is a nice route, though the tracks were wet from 2 nights of heavy rain before I set off and I hope to have another go next year. Either 3 summer days or 4 in the spring or autumn stopping at bothies or hostels.

BB200 provided my Oct bivvy, having failed to get out in Aug and Sept, so 8/10 for me. I stopped with larsmars at some point in the early hours and climbed a stile into a very lush field full of cow pats. I actually had a really good sleep, despite being very cold when I got in the bag, and woke to the sun trying to fight its way through the fog as a herd of cows munched the grass and edged nearer, casting us suspicious glances.

With a bit of luck, I might get a bit more of a 'fun' bivvy in before the end of the month. We'll see.

3/10 (Didn't start until March)

Local ride south of Bristol with Taylor formerly known as Flatfish, slept in a wood out of the wind and woken by Flights arriving at the airport.

Even got home in time to drop the kids at school.

10/10 for me. Cutting it a bit fine this month. In Madeira at the mo, and realising I wasn't going to be able to get out before we left, I packed the very minimum of gear to take with me.

Wasn't the best nights sleep, what with a chorus of crickets chirping constantly, road noise, inquisitive mammals and barking dogs... Still, made it back to the pool for a dawn swim so all's well that end's well
