Very sad news and my thoughts go out to Anna and Patricia.

Feel honoured to have met Mike earlier in the year, and despite his achievements, Mike was as down to earth as the rest of us. Enjoying the simple pleasures of riding bikes, exploring and sleeping under the stars.
Mike was, and will continue to be, an inspiration in more ways than just cycling.

An emotional and dusty day here in Yorkshire

Quite numbed by this. It could've been any of us that were sitting at that breakfast table at the Winter Event this year. That it's happened to the best...leaves me speechless.

Pedal on, Mike....pedal on.

Awful news! Had the pleasure of meeting and talking to Mike once, just an ordinary guy who achieved extra ordinary cycling achievements.
My thoughts are with Mike's family at this sad time. A great loss to the world's cycling community.

Sometimes people are underwhelmed when they meet their heros. I only met Mike once, last year, and incredibly glad I did as he was a truly decent, charming and humble guy, despite his super-human achievements.

Is there anybody who is more deserving of the title Legend? I think not.

Still feeling numb for our collective loss, and thoughts go out to those family and close friends feeling it most.

I'm struggling to process this news but can I repeat this link https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/Mikehall and urge everyone to contribute even a pound.

I think it is even more important given the circumstances of Mike's passing and the event he was part of. I don't for a minute think any insurance claim will be easy.

Currently on holiday with the family and just woke up to this news... trying very hard not to make it spoil today but very sad news

I met Mike once, he certainly won't remember me but was courteous to stop and speak for a minute to a stranger

A true legend and inspiration

RIP

Can't really add to the above but I hope the TCR and his legacy continue to inspire others to ride, to test their limits and above all, to enjoy riding their bikes.

Will be a sombre evening tonight watching Inspired to Ride...

Around tea-time on the Church or Chapel event I was having a pretty miserable time - cold and soaking wet having made a few bad choices including two completely unnecessary river crossings - and not enjoying myself at all. Mike came riding past with a cheery hello, and I think noticing that I wasn't overly enthusiastic in response he rode with me for a few miles, had a friendly chat and gave me some encouraging words. He then shot off up Bwlch y Groes like it was a flat canal path  . It was a tiny act of kindness in the grand scheme of things but it was enough to lift me out of my fug and get me over the next few hills to the pub. He seemed like a genuinely nice, unassuming bloke.

Condolences to everyone who's feeling his loss.

It lifts my mood to see that donations to the 'Mike Hall fund' have topped £40,000. Now that might seem like a lot of money but if insurance isn't forthcoming (and anyone who's ever tried to get insurance for a competitive cycle event abroard will understand), there will be some major expenses to contend with. So, if you haven't already, I'd ask you to consider making a donation: https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/Mikehall Forego a couple of pints this weekend, don't have that take-away tonight and put the money to an altogether better use.

I've never met Mike but his results have been astounding.
Dot watching and reading the forums meant an epic finish was on the cards. We've lost both a legend and the most compulsive cycling viewing that eclipses all the recent British cycling achievements.
I can't think of any other deaths that have been so shocking and my thoughts are both with Mike's family and also all the riders on the event.

Going to donate and will remember both the frailty of life and the simple joy of cycling next time I turn the pedals.

R.i.p Mike forever a legend.

Cheers Rob

Do you know anyone who has played football with Pele?
I`ve ridden (briefly!!) with Mike Hall.
That says it all.
I am going for a ride tomorrow, when the hills get steep and the showers come I will smile and be grateful to be on my bike loving what I`m doing and think of Mike.
